  • Quick Question About SC'ing...

So far my car, a 1998 3.8L A4 Camaro, has got a CompCams GT2 Cam, ZZP hardened "oil-restricted" pushrods, 105 lb springs, mod'd steel retainers, headers, magnaflow catback, and a TSP tune (plus the intake and rearend which really shouldn't matter for this post).. Plus we rebuilt the engine about 1500 miles ago with regular parts (nothing forged). Car's got 57,100 miles on it.

Now, here's the question: In the next year I was thinking of two options, either buy a Cobalt SS SC and get rid of my Camaro or finish my Camaro by "tricking out" the body and adding a supercharger on top of it. So, this should help me finalize my decision... would a supercharger be safe on my car with the mods I have done or would it be too much power? Also, with a supercharger kit, what else would I need over and above that to help it run "right" (well, besides a re-tune). Thanks, guys.

i think your TSP tune will be the biggest incompatiblity with a SC. most likely they advanced thetiming...that will not be good. they can retune it for you though.

other than that i think you will be fine. just more power.

you will want some gages. primarily a fuel pressure gage and a wide band 02 gage would be great as well.

other little mods for the sc are cheap.

Any estimates on power? Right now I can ALMOST take an LS1 Camaro...
