  • inline or intank?

what would be more practical? is there really an advantage to having an intank pump vs inline?

I say intank. Some of the inline pumps make an annoying humming noise. Plus if you forget to turn it on...boom.

intank is what I have and like it. Problem with inline is that you would have to hook up a switch or relay to turn it on each time you get in the car. Some people put an inline along with the stock so when they run nitrous they turn the inline pump on. Problem with that is that you need to remember to turn it on when you use nitrous. 1dangerousv6 found that out the hard way already.

intank works like the stock and you don't have to do anything more to it. Through it in and leave it alone

        Re: inline or intank?

what if I hooked up the wiring to a keyed source, so it just turned on and off with the car?

I would just like to avoid the hastle of cutting thru my trunk, or dropping the gas tank.

that would work as long as it turns on with your key. I cut a access panel in my trunk, wasn't hard and if I ever have to replace it I can do it in 30 minutes or less

cause I am looking in the for sale and there is a dry kit and inline pump....that dry kit would get me up to great rpms before the turbo kicked in, I already bought the intank pump, but havent installed it yet, so now I am debating.

If you hook it up to a 12 volt source via ignition, you would still need to hook it to a relay. It MIGHT still have a constant buzzing sound. I am pressing the issue of that sound cuz my dad had an MSD inline pump on his 67 Chevelle and it was annoying as hell to listen for too long.
