I have a 96 Camaro with the 3.8L Series II engine. Would it be possible to get a rebuilt supercharger from a GTP or Bonneville and reuse it on my engine? If so - how much work would it be to install and what would I all have to change so my car would run normal? Also is it even worth it? Thanks.

repost, but I am bored so here we go....

    is it possible? yes

can you just slap it on there? no

Pontiac motors are transversely mouted to accomidate for FWD. So on a GTP, for example, they dont need to try to fit the blower underneath the cowl, like on our cars. However, there are a few M-90(GTP) blowers that are made for our Mid-engine. They are mostly from Australia or Europe, these blowers will mount on top of you Lower Intake Manifold, and this is granting you dont have to cut away some of the cowel. The reason that the foriegn made blowers are the only ones that will work is because they have the intake modified to wrap back around to the front of the car, as with a regular GTP where it just comes sright out the side. This massive bend in the pipe causes a lost of HP's to go bye bye. after that you need a new crank pulley so that something is driving the super charger. then you would need a fuel managment unit or injectors, a tune, and violla you have one, very mediocre M-90 super charger.

Is it worth it? no. There are 1-2 people who have done this, so good luck getting help when you need it on an install. Also I am pretty sure you will have to pull the motor to complete the install cause there is no way you are going to be able to tightne down some of the blower bolts towards the rear. I also think you will need a brake booster relocation. As well a modified fuel rail and I am sure there is way more.

Moral of the story....much better of buying a turbo kit or powerdyne Ssuper charger.

          Re: GM Supercharger

well the reason why i asked is because some guy claimed he could install a rebuilt supercharger on my car for 540 bucks total.... thats parts and install... sounded too good to be true.....

540 bucks? yeah right. unless he's a good friend and is doing you a huge ginormous favor, its gotta be some sort of scam. the parts alone will cost you more than 540 AND you'll have to tune it AND you'll need other supporting parts...

that...or he's an idiot and assumes an M-90 is a direct bolt on.
