  • safe boost level?

i know this question has been asked before but all i can find is an snswer related to the powerdyne. I just put on the FFF turbo kit w/ FMU stock injectors, whalbro 255, msd dis 4, msd wires, blaster coils. My question is how much boost can i run safely without a timing retard controller like the crane or MSD one. Everything i have read says 6-7 PSI is the safe amount without a timing retard controller, but this was stated for a non intercooled powerdyne. Now since i have a FFF with intercooler and from what i have heard turbos tend to flow more CFM. Also in relation to this what would be the max for my stock injectors. I bought the zeitronix wideband with boost and egt. so i guess i could just push it till i see that i'm running lean, but i would rather not.

    Re: safe boost level?

id say 5 max, with stock injectors.

With Bigger injectors and a lower compression, you could run as much as your heart desires.

or as much as your internals desire, you will blow a head gasket or snap a rod, chip a piston, break a crank even. I think the most anyone has ever run on the 3800 is 17-18 psi. with forged rods and pistons.

i highly doubt the crank would break before any of those
Hell, I bent the Hell out of my rod and it didnt throw the crank off at all

anyone know what the fff kit stock boost levels are without a boost controller
? This being for a .5 A/r on the cold side and .82 on the hot.

they use Tial waste gates and they give you the springs, I think.

and I know snapping a crank is very unlikely, but it is just a mkinor possibility i threw out there.
