What about these? They are 1 5/8 ID log style manifolds. Certainly flow much better than stock (not as well as headers) and route forward for conecting to a turbo. Piping is schedule 80 - so they should stand up to most any abuse. Have them coated to reduce temp. All for less than $300.
are those for 3.8 camaros? If so thats awesome, not as well flowing as headers of course but who cares that's a steal.
I built them myself... Schedule 80 pipe, a 3/8 flange, and a mig. The cost of the pipe was just under $200 - I wouldn't have believed the expense of this stuff if I hadn't seen it myself. The swain coating will run $100 - $150 and is a true ceramic (thick) thermal coating - not just a jet hot dress up.
These are sitting on a 3.4. I posted a while ago about forward swept headers and noone had any good leads (beside fff). I did not have room to fit the fff ones so I built them myself. I am building an Opel GT with the 3.4 as motorvation and if you know what an Opel GT is you know there is VERY little room - which is why I chose the 60 degree v6 motor. The forward swept exhaust was a necessity as I could not exit the exhaust by the rear of the block for clearance reasons. Now, since I have the forward exhaust, and there is plenty of room in front of the engine, it would be silly not to do a turbo (at least that's what I tell my wife). I got the idea from a friend of mine that builds custom engines - mostly 4 cylinder turbo Opel engines. He has used these materials for some time and has never had a problem.
I am presently half way through another set and these new ones run three pipes into one collector - like true headers - only not equal length. They still exit in the front. I havn't decided on a three bolt flange or a ball joint yet - but as soon as I do they are off to get coated. From the picture viper04af posted - they look to be the same design as the new ones I am making.

I have looked into vbands... I am not sure if I should use the 'kit' and weld on the flanges, or get the pipe with the flanges already welded on. I know that many turbo applications use vbands - so I suppose they seal well. Both the three bolt and ball flange are cheaper than vbands. Is the selling point the sealing power?
Three bolt flanges would certainly be the cheapest - but if the exhaust pipe joint is not perfect, they will not seal well.
The local exhaust shop can do the ball joints at a reasonable cost. Ball joints seal better than three bolt flanges and allow for a little wiggle room.

Good luck with your GT! Had a 70 1.9 with sd weber ,cam,headders and ff exhaust.I had great fun with that car in my younger daze,wish I still had it. BTW the sway bars and rearend [3.44 ?] from a kaddet will fit the GT.
Thanks Puffadder... Mine is a 70 and originally came with the 1.9. It now has a complete tube frame with a mustang rear on ladderbar/coilovers. the front is mustang II with r&p. I have 11 inch vented discs all around. The car weighs less than 2000 lbs so I am only looking for 250 ish hp to make it scoot real well. The turbo I am looking at is a Garrett super60 with comp 60 trim .42 a/r and turbine 68 trim .48 a/r. I think I am going to redo the manifolds once again and go with 1.38 ID to better match the exhaust ports. I think any bigger than that and there will be too much volume and lag the turbo.
There seems to be quite a bit of interrest in forward swept headers for the 3.4 and 3.8. Anyone want to talk about specs to see if this can become a reality? Tube size? How should the manifolds exit? With straight, 45 degree or 90 degree turndown near the front of the engine?

That's for the 3.8... would there be any difference for the 3.4? The kit that fff once made connected to the existing exhaust I believe (?) then routed it forward to the turbo and then back to the existing cat.
