  • Paxton Blower any Good?

Anyone know if these are good? there are a lot of used counterclockwise ones on ebay right now that would work with my setup. also, they are easily rebuildable, and the kits are for sale unlike the vortechs. Also, do they whine like the vortech's? looking at the sn92 or sn 93 model

Yes, Paxton is the best. It's only second to ATI when it comes to quality.

Get the say Novi 2000. That's 2000 cfm. A 3.8 V6 Monte Carlo ran 11.2 with 11psi with that blower. The engine is stock from what I hear.

Yes, they are rebuildable just like any other blower. But since they are gear driven, they will cost a lot more than a Powerdyne. Just like PD there are upgradable parts you can buy for it to make it even better.

www.928motorsports.com I believe can do the rebuilt for you. If not check with www.superchargersonline.com

i heard that theyaren't gear driven, so they don't whine. i heard that they are belt driven, and only boost to 10 psi max?

You are right. Paxton did try to copy Powerdyne but they weren't successful. It was plague with many problems.

I don't think they have their belt driven SC anymore.

They have a new one that they are trying to market. I've seen in this years car show. It's a Paxton with a snail housing unit only that doesn't use engine oil (not sure). It is cog driven.

The salesman let me hold it and I tell the thing probably only weighs 10-15lbs and it spins really easy. It's really small about the size of my hand. I haven't seen it online yet. If I do I will post.

Other than that Paxton is mostly gear driven.

Here's the Monte Carlo one I mentioned to you. Scroll down to the bottom http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...ts1.php?id=244

well i hear that the paxton's lock up, and use some kind of balls? i need to call and ask them if they are gear driven. Also, why do they only spool to 10 psi max?? i mean with an intercooler i will need 10-12psi to prolly feel a steady 9-10 at the motor

I never heard of Paxton maxing out at 10. I think the 20-25psi is the max for a Novi 1000 producing 650hp potential. 30+ for the Novi 2200 model producing 920hp potential. Somewhere along that line I think. Need to double check.

Paxton is actually one of the oldest centrifugal SC. ATi and Vortech pretty much copied them.

There's a pic. of internals on this site below.

found too many design flaws. granted the novi are a much better gear driven series, i was only considering the 92-93 series because of the cheap price. Goes to show you, you get what you pay for. The ball bearings slip under heat, and were designed in the days when 6-8 psi was considered high. plus you have to run an oil cooler, or else the slippage of the ball bearings drastically increases with heat. If i intercool, i need 10-12 because of the loss of 2 psi roughly through the system. Looks like vortech and Procharger and my options. I want that whine neways, but thanks for the advice.

I'm not sure but I don't think Paxton makes those series anymore.

If you check www.superchargeronline.com Paxton is pretty reliable. ATi has actually shown more problems that the site became an ATi bashing fest. And I thought Powerdyne was bad. The ATi company pulled themselves out of sponsorship.

Paxton does produce the same blower whine as any gear driven head unit. There's a student here in my school who drives a Stang GT with 9psi of Paxton (non-intercooled). I could hear the blower whining from a distant. Pretty intimidating.
