Hey guys, I am new to this fourm and the american cars in general. i just bought a 2001 camaro v6 3800, I love the car to death, however I need more power and need your opinions on this. I was think about an LS1 swap or forced induction, what would you guys recommend? and If I go forced induction, what would be better, a supercharger, or a turbo and how much power to the wheel would they give me at stock boost. I have searched the fourm , however I did not find a straight answer, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I was think about an LS1 swap
or forced induction
If I go forced induction, what would be better, a supercharger, or a turbo
how much power to the wheel would they give me at stock boost
Now parts you will need and there approx costs.....
Turbo - $500- $1800
wasteate - $200- $500
Blow off valve - $150- $300
Turbo piping - $1,800
Inner Cooler - $350-$700
Fuel Pump - $140
Fuel management unit - $250
OR
bigger fuel injectors - $200-$450
boost gauge - $80
HP tuners - $500
boost controller - $100-$350
Wideband 02 - $390
that should be good for your basic turbo setup, enjoy the boost!

Re: Forced Induction question
The reason you didnt find a straight answer is because there isn't one. This topic is too indepth for someone on a forum to give you the answer your going to want. Choose which one you want and enjoy it. There is no better one at the moment.

The Ls1 swap is exteremly involved, you are much better off just buying an Ls1 powered car.
persoanlly I would go forced induction, hope you have done your savings. : )
Turbo chargers are far more effecient that super chargers. I am building my turbo motor right now.....
well there is no stock boost level, and it depends on all of your other modifications.

only thing that did was the cam
1. Shane DID NOT HAVE an FFF kit.
2. The best ET's the FFF kit have produced on a stock or lightly modified V6 fody have been 14 second ET's. (Your car is neither.)
3. A cam IS a major modification.
4. and...If the "only thing you did was the cam", why do you have an extensive list of supporting modifications on your site? http://www.turbov6camaro.com/mod.htm
Most Importantly, however:
5. The Powerdyne is mass-produced and ready to buy, unlike the FFF kit where people have waited up to a year or even longer to get a kit built and then end up selling them because pieces (ie piping) don't fit correctly. (Check the For Sale section). There's one in there almost every week and they even list what the problems were.
6. The record is held by a "supercharged"/nitroused car. ;) And now almost everyone with a turbo (who badmouthed the car and the driver) is looking to add N2O to "try" and duplicate the setup. Ironic... so the original statement you made holds no merit. :DLast edited by Shirl; 10-21-2006, 09:31 AM.2004 CE Corvette 10.86@132mph
