I've been doing research for a future 3.4 project and have read turbos l,ll&lll. I have a good undestanding of the basics but find the "turbo sizing" somewhat overwhelming. I relize that for a given engine, turbo selection can be based on use: low boost everyday driving,hp street driving and all out topend. There is a guy at thirdgen.org that post a 12.6 sec. 1/4 mile using a T04E [50 ar int / 63 ar exh / 57 lll trim] @ 16 psi;then I've seen T60 & T70's touted as "the one" to use. Could you generate the same power at a lower boost with the "bigger" turbo and turn the same et ?

but bigger turbo will take longer to spool and give you a worse ET
but you could help spool it with some nitrous2k2 camaro, K&N, SLP whisper lid, Konis, AEM, HP Tuners, Angel eyes/Halos, CF SS ram air hood, 4.10s, Zexel Torsen, UMI SFCs, CrossFire, BFGs, Gatorback, Catco, Flows, and TLC! DONT feed the Trolls!

Re: Turbo Confusion
No,he said it was a 3.1;I'm thinking that a T04E might be right for my needs but with a different trim. I'm still in the research faze and don't know much more than the basics but I'm picking up a more info everyday. I'm beginning to think that the maps get you into the ballpark but seeing the results someone got with a turbo on the same engine will get you what you need to make that final choice.

Re: Turbo Confusion
kind of yes and no , you are forgetting manufacture here , the map that you are looking at : Garrett T70 shows that T70 is too big fot application , and probably is , but MP T70 spools just right. I think its little bit smaller than Garrett but there is no prove since a compresor map for MPT70 is not available.
for 3.4 the one that I would go is 60-1 it should flow more than enough.
