  • sts remote turbo $2999

sts turbo is kool and for the price you guys think it will be worth it, i'd defintaly think about doin it for the price, its new and not too many people have it, some do and it sounds and looks intense, and f-body's are great for engine room :naughty: and it doesn't take too many mods either for the universal system. looks sweet what do u think.

they don't have a v6 kit, so you have to modify the v8 kit. Someone here has it on their car already. Kind of a pain to modify but it works. Not sure what the heck you are talking about with the great engine room though.

i personally cant see how the STS kit would be great, the piping is so much further spread out, seems like it might almost take longer to get the turbo making peak boost.

they installed these on an LS1 on horsepower tv then dyno'd it, they got nice gains BUT they admitted to using the dyno brake to load then engine as they brought the RPM's up so the turbo would spool then released the brake floored it and recorded the #'s that way. On that note they have never used this "method" to record numbers before.
I only know what I see on TV about dyno's so perhaps someone that knows more could chime in. (shane? viper?)

Personally just from a physics standpoint, by the time the exhaust has reached the turbo you have lost alot of heat (read energy) which is needed to spin a turbo efficiently. Also you have to raise the pressure of the air flowing through that piping from the rear of the car back to the front. Basic physics tells us that air compresses therefore if you have an area of larger volume to compress you need more air(mass), this is one of the reasons people who run a super or a turbo see a pressure drop when they add an intercooler.
Could you get more power out of the system I'd say yes. But it is inherently inefficent.
Worth $3k plus your time and energy to modify it to work on a V6?? that's up to the buyer.

I would love to see one of these head to head with a front mount turbo, and some sort of supercharger using a standing launch from idle. up to say 100mph.

It's actually mounted at the back, in replacement of your muffler.

Imagine coming to a puddle of water. That would get the turbo wet and most importantly the air filter.

The FFF kit would be a better choice because for one thing, it comes with an intercooler and STS doesn't. They even recommend that you use water injection.

i can think of 2 reasons and fuel is not one of them

                      1. there not alot holding it to the car, if the car flips that sends a 15-30 lb turbo into the air lol

                      2. Oil, oil on the track is a bad thing and its much eiser to spring a leak with 25 foot of hose

actually...if fuel did mix with that charged air, it would, in theory, be a giant flamethrower
