Well meth will cause you to run lean. So if you are an expert tuner with a wideband in both banks, if not every primary, you might be able to.

Well, I was just talking to my friend and he was wondering if it was possible to put methane in for an octane booster, he said he found it cheap somewhere, and told me to ask you guys if it would work as a booster. I searched and only saw it for cooling turbo guys. So it sound like I can, but it would be impractical because octane booster is cheaper?

Methyl alchoo is only good as a chemical coolant for boosted/juiced engines. If you want premium gas, get it from the pump or buy octance booster at any local autoparts store or even Wal-Mart.

If you dont have a turbo, supercharger, nitrous or high compression pistons, just fill up with 87 or you are just wasting your money man.

meht is fuel how in the hell will it make you run lean?

meht does add octan but i WOULD NOT PUT IT IN MY GAS TANK, it is very corosive and eats away at things like rubber and aluminum.... that like half our car

i wouldnt run methanol in my car...

however, ethanol can be used in limited percentages as an octane booster... hell, its what pretty much all sunoco stations around me use instead of other agents (MTBE) which are harmful to the environment.

ethanol does not have the same energy per volume as gasoline, so your engine either requires more of it to run right, or you are going to run slightly lean depending on the concentrations...

oh, and octane boosters are useless.. for the $.20 - $.30 per gallon difference (~$3.00-$4.50 per fill up extra), you can run premium.

remember, octane boosters raise octane by a few points.

10 points = 1 number

what you see on the pump is the octane number.

so that little bottle at the parts store that cost you $5 to raise it a few points is pretty much useless... its a lot cheaper just to run premium.

all fuels aren't created alike. iirc, meth burns at something like 4 or 5:1, while our normal gas gets along with a itty bitty 14.7:1. So trying to use too much meth in a system configured for gas means you wouldn't be adding enuf fuel to satisfy the stoicheometric ratio... thus.. running lean.
