  • Quick question about pcv valve

This site outlines 2 ways to block the pcv valve:http://home.comcast.net/~grayman99/TB-PCV.htm

Does one of the 2 methods throw a cel code, or are they both ok. I'm asking for emissions testing purposes.

Just realised....Before I get yelled at for this being in the wrong section, I forgot to say I'm asking to see if I can keep my car 100% emissions legal and still have a supercharger.

Nobody can tell me if you can be emissions legal and still block the pcv valve?

both ways won't throw a code. dont quote me on that.. but ive personally seen it done both ways on different cars that didnt have problems. i did mine blocking the TB and had no problems.

i don't understand why ppl vent their rocker covers. you only need to run the pcv hose to the sc inlet (where there's vacuum). maybe they're afraid of oiling up their turbo/sc?

emissions tests only do a visual inspection and tailpipe emissions. i think this is wrong. it doesn't measure total emissions.

they'll catch you on the visual (if it's obvious). i assume you must be e-tested. you could run into problems in licensing if you don't pass. however, a pcv won't make you fail if your engine is tight, and tuned.

Grayman's site suggest doing a screw plug. I did mine on the intake instead of the TB when I first got the SC.

Every other year where I have to take the car for smog, I usually remove the SC in order to pass visual and I unscrew the thing. I do spray the TB and the intake with the throttle body cleaner. Because slugsh or residue tends to build up in them due to PCV being blocked.

Also be sure to buy a Breather from ZZperformance.
