I was just wondering, I know that if I add a intercooler to my powerdyne that I will lose around 3 psi. I was wondering if by getting a smaller pulley I can get those 3 psi back. I was thinking of going with a 2.75 or 2.62 pulley. That way it will hopefully keep my psi around 6-8 psi. Tell my what you guys think!!

Re: Powerdyne + Intercooler
I know, but to make up for the loss I will just pump up the psi so by the time it reaches the engine I will be back at around 6 to 8.
11 psi pulley - 3 to 4 psi intercooler loss, hopefully will equal anywhere from 6 to 8 psi2001 JET BLACK V6 CAMARO <br /><br />-Powerdyne Supercharger, Pacesetter Headers, Transgo Shift Kit, and a whole lot more. <br /><br /> <a href=\"http://groups.msn.com/SPEEDSTYLEandPERFORMANCE\" target=\"_blank\">http://groups.msn.com/SPEEDSTYLEandPERFORMANCE</a> <br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/id/camarostallion\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/id/camarostallion</a>

Re: Powerdyne + Intercooler
I know of two people who have done it here: SSM5411 and Woojong.
They did went with a smaller pulley in order to get those lost boost.
But in my opinion, you'd be better off with water injection. It will cool off the charge without the lost of any boost.

Re: Powerdyne + Intercooler
The intercooler I ran was 36x6x3 and I lost around 3 psi. After running it for 2 weeks I realized it was putting alot of stress on the internal belt of the powerdyne, this was on a 2.6" grooved pulley. The unit itself would be extremly hot, and eIther the smell of the drive belt or the internal belt was in the air. I went with the methanol 150 psi injection setup , finally got it working right( make sure you put the nozzel after the maf) and then sold the unit do to some money issues at the time. I just took the methanol kit off my car, I was running it N/A with a vaccum switch. Coolingmist is where I got mine. Re: Powerdyne + Intercooler
I was planning on installing an 18"x12"x3" intercooler right behind the opening of my ram air hood. Mock pic below, forgive the poor quality. Just wanted you guys to get an idea of the set up.
I was planning on running a 2.75 pulley to get back some of the boost that I would lose and since it is a small intercooler and very lil piping, that will keep the loss to a minimum. I have enough room under my Ram Air hood to fit the intercooler.
But now I am considering meth aswell. Should I do both???? I am planning on adding a Walbro 255, #36 injectors and getting it all tuned. How about that setup??2001 JET BLACK V6 CAMARO <br /><br />-Powerdyne Supercharger, Pacesetter Headers, Transgo Shift Kit, and a whole lot more. <br /><br /> <a href=\"http://groups.msn.com/SPEEDSTYLEandPERFORMANCE\" target=\"_blank\">http://groups.msn.com/SPEEDSTYLEandPERFORMANCE</a> <br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/id/camarostallion\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/id/camarostallion</a>

Re: Powerdyne + Intercooler
I wouldn't do the intercooler the stress of the intercooler would have your internal belt and bearings go out in no time. I ran a 2.6" pulley which gave me 9lbs of steady boost, with the intercooler the most I got was 5-6 lbs of boost. I thought the car felt slower too. So thats why I only had a intercooler on there for 2 weeks.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Why is the intercooler causing that much stress on the powerdyne?00\' firebird v6 5spd<br />201rwhp ---- 230 rwtq<br />\"Everyday I grow stronger...and further from you.\"<br />WARNING: Do not take any of my comments seriously unless they are technical in nature and then only at your own risk

Re: Powerdyne + Intercooler
That would be correct Bankz27, think of it his way the pipng to the supercharger is maybe 2ft to the throttle body if you do the intercooler you'll have maybe 8 to 10 ft of piping along with the intercooler and its channels inside. It is like taking a regular straw and blowing through it , then try taking the same diameter staw and increase the length to 10 ft. you'll have to work alot harder trying to get the same effect with the longer straw. In which puts more effort and energy into producing the same results. The internal belt is probably the weakest link to the powerdyne, you can upgrade the bearings but you will always have trouble with the internal belt when you start adding more Psi to the unit.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: Powerdyne + Intercooler
The only reason I am still thing of the Intercooler is that my intercooler will be real small 18" and where it is going to be mounted there is hardly any piping.2001 JET BLACK V6 CAMARO <br /><br />-Powerdyne Supercharger, Pacesetter Headers, Transgo Shift Kit, and a whole lot more. <br /><br /> <a href=\"http://groups.msn.com/SPEEDSTYLEandPERFORMANCE\" target=\"_blank\">http://groups.msn.com/SPEEDSTYLEandPERFORMANCE</a> <br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/id/camarostallion\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/id/camarostallion</a>

Remember Greenglow? He had a front mounted intercooler, pretty similar to the intercooler you mentioned. I'm not sure but I don't think it was effective. And he did lose some boost.
Besides, if you are going to do it that way, you have to raise up because outside air needs to pass through it. You might have clearance problem with your hood.
Piping shouldn't be a problem. A good machine shop should be able to do a mandrel bent pipes for you. May I suggest saving your current pipes just in case this doesn't work.

Re: Powerdyne + Intercooler
I am still debating it. Right now it looks that Meth is the way to go. I know I have to place the nozzle behind the MAF, do I have to buy a throttle body spacer and then place the nozzle through the spacer, or is the room on the TB to drill a hole behind the MAF to place the nozzle???2001 JET BLACK V6 CAMARO <br /><br />-Powerdyne Supercharger, Pacesetter Headers, Transgo Shift Kit, and a whole lot more. <br /><br /> <a href=\"http://groups.msn.com/SPEEDSTYLEandPERFORMANCE\" target=\"_blank\">http://groups.msn.com/SPEEDSTYLEandPERFORMANCE</a> <br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/id/camarostallion\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/id/camarostallion</a>
