this is to viper04af I can't believe your car is only a 12 second camaro with all that horsepower man you have almost 500 horses you should be at least 11 or maybe lower seeing your numbers make me wanna stop buying parts to get horsepower. Are your numbers correct because something just seems funny you have like 3 times the horsepower that our cars come with. This means you can beat z28s and ss camaros and cobra mustangs Im not doubting you but I would like to see video of your car viper this will give me hope

                    Quoted For Truth!!!!1!!!
                    and
                    "3x" is a bad exaggeration!
He has 456rwhp (old setup) not "close to 500"
I'm sure his car pulls mad crazy at top end, race him from a go you'll hardly see him fly by you

im curious about vipers suspension set up... my friend brent has an 03 cobra that has almost the exact same numbers but runs half asecond faster or so... i will grant that viper has one balls *** 3800 car... but i have seen cars with the same horsepower and torque, that are in fact heavier than his car, run half second faster quarters.

i know that for quarter mile times there is a lot to consider... elavation, traction, reaction, and all sorts of other stuff but ive watched the videos and i havent been able to figure out why he hasnt jumped into the mid 11's yet.

no disrespect towards viper or anyone else on the forum... just my 2 cents.

sure your buddies cobra makes the same power but look at his dyno curve I assure you it is making much more power where ours are not (aka low rpm range). Like slow6 said when we get up into high rpms.....look the **** out, but its all about the launch

ford has a much more sturdy rear end allowing for cobra to launch in a much higher rpm band with less risk of damage to their rear end.

also a S/C makes most of its power right out of the hole, so he is probably seeing some very nice 60 foot times......

but this yr andrew (viper) is running a 4400 stall, and myself a 4000 stall, Linx's is manual so he can choose his launching rpm, along with a ton of other FI and N20 cars this season, you will see way more 11's.....and to some REALLY lucky ones...maybe even 10's!!?!?!?!?!

EDIT: not to mention the Twin Turbo shop camaros....geez

dont worry there will be a flurry of 11's this season

Re: look at this 3.8 motor

i understand what your trying to say... brent doesnt trust himself with launching the car so he kinda rolls it for a sec then hits it. his torque curve is pretty incredible its almost that of an LS1 car. i love it... but i cant stand it at the same time. so yes the supercharger is putting out more low end then vipers turbo 6... so yea i can see that. i just wanted to toss that out there and figure out if he had mildly upgraded his suspension or not...

also... with a car like vipers, i dont see him running a stock rearend in it.

but i would love to see some of these cars... turbod camaros, supercharged camaros... in town there are only modded out the arse mustangs that have a hard time pulling away from me let along them trying to keep up with the stock Z's... well all except for brents cobra.

viper, i still highly respect the amazingness of your car:drool: . i guess i just havent looked at the dyno sheets.

Also remember that Viper only had one chance at the track before his motor blew and only had a few runs with it. With more TNT, he could have had better times with that set up.

the main problem was the stall was to tight and i could not lanch with boost..

also on the old set up the pacesetter ball flange warped and made huge exhaust leaks witch slows spool a lot (see pic) i didn't notice this until after the old motor was out or i would have fixed it lol

my 12.0 was on a 1.94 60 foot, 1.7's would easy give me high 11's

the trap was low on that because i leaned out. i

have about 30-40 slip from both 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile. at my cars race weight (3500#) i have trapped as high 117.95 in the 1/4 and 94.35 in the 1/8 witch is about right for 450RWHP (use some of the inter net calculators)

just had some bugs to get out..... hopefully in next few weeks i can bring home some better times with the new setup

i also race a 11.8 STI on the way to the track and i pulled him like a rape ape...... he was kinda mad when he found out i was a v6 lol.
