Front mount Intercooler vs under car?

I can't decide how I want to do my IC, angled underneath the car near the radiator flap, or cut the front bumper and mout it in front like linxs. I really don't want to risk cracking my front bumper since i have filled seameless grndfx, and also want to keep the fog lights.

My question is it better in the grill vs underneath, or does it depend on how you mount it? Can it successfully be mounted underneath so that I don't have to hack the front up. If i do cut the front can i keep my fogs (i was thinking this depends on the size design of the IC) Would it be stupid to mount in the front and then put a 5 slat billet grill over it to give it a more finished look? Would it hinder performance?

Front mounting is the best compare to any form of mounting: under, top or rear.

The fact is that air gets to it completely and runs through the cooler's fins more efficiently.

That's an advantage of the camaro over the firebird. Unless you wanna cut a hole like Tiago did.

i have a front mount in my camaro...wouldnt mount it anywhere else

Front mount is better but unless you are running high levels of boost the angled underneath is fine. Hell I think shane ran his like that and he had the turbo record for years. You don't always have to go all out to have an effective, reliable system.

correct but mounting the intercooler underneath has proved to raise underhood temps because that "free flowing air" cant get to the radiator and cool off everything

I have not seen anything proving to raise under hood temps for the stated reason. I would appreciate it if you could link me to a post proving this if you know of one.

Remember though, we have a v6 with the same size radiator as the v8 so we are actually pretty good as far as cooling goes. I don't think we have quite the same problem they do but I'll go take a look and see how big of a change they are seeing.

yah but also remember...a LS1 is an alunimum based engine which means it makes heat, but cools off much faster then our iron block 3.8's

True but the LT1 had the same radiator as well. Our cooling system is actually overkill for our little engines which is great, one less thing to mod. Still not saying your wrong but I doubt it will cause much of a problem having the IC in that location.

I figured the front would be the best and most efficient. Secondly, does anyone know if any material needs to be removed from the front bumper to get an appropriate size IC to fit? Also is it dumb to put a wide slatted billet grill in front of it? I mean it won't block that much flow right?
