I have a turbo off a grand national and i was wondering if i could use it to turbo my car?
were can i get manifolds or do i have to make them?
and what type of cam/heads should i run?
before i thought of FI my car i was going to install a gt2 cam could i run this cam with FI?
99 3.8 a4
the turbo look like its in good cond. i will post a pic of it later.
could i flip a pair if pacesetters upside down and modify them?
is there a cam/heads setup that will run good NA while im working on the turbo setup?
what would be a reasonable goal that i could dive daily on stock internals and on cam/heads?

For the amount of modifying it would take to flip a pair of pace setters, you'd be better off just making a full custom set, IMO.
Honestly, i'd do the turbo first, and the H/C after. It's better to have a good handle on a particular setup before you start adding other stuff.
Reasonable power goals vary from person to person, but i've been making ~450rwhp for almost two years now. A couple other guys are driving theirs daily, making more than that even.
go for it - assuming the turbo is in good condition. you have a better 4 speed tranny, and better flowing heads than the gn! stock they made 240+ hp...about 100 more than n/a. you should use good gas, and watch the boost...you have a higher compression ratio.
the question is: if you have to fabricate new exhaust manifolds, do you want to limit yourself to the stock gn turbo? (even if it's free) how fast do you want to go? there are much better turbos available today. even original gn owners chucked the stock turbo pretty quickly. a t4/60-1 is good for over 400 whp with stock heads and cam. you could find a t3/t4 on ebay for only a couple hundred dollars (i know anything made in china is dubious).
I have a turbo from a buick regal ttype(85) on my car. Custom kit i bought off someone from here. Still isn't working after 2 years :( I've redone a lot of it over the course of the 2 years trying to get it working. My current theory is restrictive exhaust but i dont' have any extra money so it sits.
The piping is based on the old setup, driver side passes through passenger side forward header. I have ic, 36lb injectors and hp tuned but still it bogs under boost and i dont' have much extra power.
Anyways, i'm sure it can work but be careful if you go custom. I regret the day i tried :(

i'm really sorry to hear about your car. i have a tube amp i'm putting together...it's been almost a year now. i couldn't imagine having it together and trying to make it work for 2 years. i wish you the best with that.
turbo cars are really fun. i can't wait to get mine:D gn guys know where it's at.
ravenp , shoot me an email with details. I thought you were under boost all those years..
Will do. I'd be happy for some new fresh insight. Thanks.
