Hey guys, I'm in the research stage of building a motor and turbo kit for my 96 camaro. IMO my best bet is forward facing headers for the turbo kit, I've already emailed tiago to see if he'll make me a set, but would fwd ffh (such as cartunging...:-( ) be another viable option. I searched and saw one short discussion on the topic of using fwd ffh headers, but no one who has done it? Would fwd ffh work?

Re: dumb question

Thanks in advance guys!
In the meantime, I'll throw out my planned build at the same time.
Motor
Stroker kit, LC pistons (COME)
bore/hone/port polish intake, exhaust
custom comp cam + 130# springs and stronger lifters
ffh+20psi boost t3/t4 garrett
Intercooler
HP tuners
225L/h fuel pump
42# injectors
Meth injection kit
Trans
g-force 5 speed
1LE driveshaft
3.73 rear end
Am I missing anything big in the build and an answer to the original ? would be great!
Thanks guys.

Re: dumb question
I beleive you have to change your PCM out to a 97. I do not think HPtuners works on a 96 (at least it used to be this way, I have not bee on their site for a while.
Your plan looks solid for 400ish RWHP. if you are planning on making more than that I would put in some larger injectors. You'll also need a spec 3+ clutch or a stage 5.
I'm a little confussed on your FFH question? Carsound has had coming soon on their website for almost 3 years now. Tiago has built me 3 turbo kits and 2 of those were FFH. The FFH will fit and it works very well. Take a look at my thread below starting with "almost done"....

Re: dumb question
Alright, lets see if I can clarify the ffh a little bit. I was thinking about buying just a pair of ffh from one of the fwd places like cartuning or zzp.cartuning headers Then the rest of the turbo kit obviously would have to be fabbed myself. But would either the cartuning or zzp fwd kit headers work for our cars? Mostly taking into account clearance issues, I would think the exhaust manifold bolt pattern is the same?
*Yeah I knew about the stage 3 clutch. And would just adding 65# injectors to that system be good for more hp? If so it should be worth it.
Thanks tons.Last edited by redcamaro1996; 06-15-2007, 12:31 PM.

I would get a "3+" not a "3". You'll max out the clutch at about 450ish HP. I had Spec build me their first ever stage 5+ clutch. I'll let you know how it works out.
Yes, bigger injectors will allow for more HP. you'll max the 42's around 450ish. You'll also need an additional Fuel pump once you reach 480ish. Oh and a boost oriented fuel preasure regulator. You did not mention BOV or wastegate, double timing chain, suspension, wideband, fuel preasure gauge, ect... I could go on and on, these are a few things you need to consider before you start pushing 350+ RWHP.Patrick
Sick Sixx Member
97 Mystic Teal Camaro
425RWHP @14PSI
Old setup:
330RWHP @7PSI 13.9 @ 106.6 Mods
