  • supercharger problem......

I did a seach and couldn't find anything so..... Well I took my car to go from 10 psi to 15 psi. Well the problem was my car only made 6 psi and 240 RWHP and was running very rich and last summer it was running 10 psi around 300RWHP. I would assume something is wrong with the supercharger since Ive never changed pulleys before and it doesnt whistle like it use to. Has anyone on here rebuilt a supercharger before? if so how much did it costs? or do you guys think that something else could cause a drop in PSI like that? any info would help.....

check for boost leaks? rebuilding a supercharger isnt too bad and only takes an hour or two with the right tools. Bought my rebuild kit on ebay for about 115 or so and i love it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you have Mach Perf. ATI kit?

It just sounds like a really bad belt slippage.

Yes mines a mach kit. Im hoping to put pics on here now that I have a digital camera, but I dont have my car at the moment. I looked for rebuild kits online and couldnt find any. We were looking for belt slippage and it didnt really have any. I was also looking for leaks and couldnt really find any places where it could leak.

Have you tried asking the guys at www.superchargeronline.com ?

They'll be able to make recommendation.

So did the whine changed and you lost boost?

            Re: supercharger problem......

thanks for the help thor you were right.....the idler arm was broken causing belt slippage and the belt to stretch. For some odd reason though the tune I had before hand was bad and my car was running very rich. My car came in running rich at 240 Wheel HP at 6 psi and and left 291 Wheel hp at 11 psi, but the computer stopped the run at 5000 rpms since my 36# injectors were doing 130% duty cycle. They told me I need to go up to 42# injectors and maybe switch to a bigger intank fuel pump and get rid of the inline. Have any of you other guys switched your intake fuel pumps or do you guys think I would be fine just getting bigger injectors?....because I know you have to drop the rear end to get to the intank. Another question is does anyone know where I could get 42#s for my 02? for some odd reason the 02s are the narrow bodied ones.

              Re: supercharger problem......

I would def. ditch the inline pump and go with the walbro 255 intank, then see if your needing the 42# injectors, with the 36# injectors and walbro 255 you should be alright. I would try that first before swapping injectors.
