  • Hows this turbo cam sound?

Below are the specs to the turbo setup I bought. I have P&Ped heads with 105# springs. I currently run the GT2 cam but I understand that I need to have zero overlap so......which cam? intense stage 2? stattama stage 2 or 3? I am only gonna be running 6 pounds or so right now until I can uprage my tranny. So what do u think?

Turbonetics T3/T4 Turbo. 62-1 Compressor (550HP) with a .60 A/R on the cold side. Stage V turbine wheel with a .63 A/R (rebuilt by Dave at Majestic Turbo in Dallas TX)
-- 3.5 inch down pipe (dumps at the front) can be fabbed to go to your catback system.
-- Tial 38mm Wastegate with the 6 psi spring. The Gate has a few scratchs on it.
SLP CAI, RK Sport headers, P&Ped heads and intake, GT2 cam, Upgraded valvetrain, Z28 rear axle with 4.10s Tx Spd tune, Z06 rims, 2.5\" exhaust to flowmaster, 160* thermo, B&M ripper, upgraded ignition, rockford fosgate 12\" with sony xplode amp and HU.

whats the reason for the 130# springs? The 105#ers are good up to .550 lift.

Which cam would be best for my application right now though. Intense stage 2 or the stattama stage 2 or 3?

they may say that but they are not.... maybe for a NA car but not a boosted car i have 130 springs and i get valve float at 6700 RPM and i only have .571 lift and 130's are suppose to be good to .600 and 7200 RPM

boost add a hole new factor

So 130# springs....that would mean I need a double roller timing chain, in which case the balance shaft must be removed. I also would need different retainers or would the 105# retainers be ok?

I am not familiar with the double roller chain. With the spring I would guess all you do is take the rocker arms off and replace springs?

you don't have to remove the balance shaft only the gear that drives it. it can sit there and not spin not going to hurt anything

plus this free's up more horse power and the balcne shaft is like 10 lb rotaing mass thats freed up

Help me out then. I cant find any good threads. Where would I find some 130# springs with the appropriate retainers?

For the install can I just take the valve covers off, unbolt the rockers and swap the springs/retainers out?

Is the double roller chain pretty self explanatory for the install?

                  Thanks for all ur help

just upgrade to the TI retainers (don't have to) but should.

to upgrade the chain take off the front cover and turn the motor until the dots line up. remove the timing chain remove the large gear from the cam shaft that spins the balance shaft and install the double roller with the dots line up. turn it around 2 times to make sure they still line up and put it back together

what i meant was the gear is very easy to remove, but the actual shaft itself sucks to remove.

Can I swap the 105# springs and retainers while the heads are still on the car? Or do the heads need to be removed?

You can, but it would sure be a hell of a lot easier with the heads off.

how hard can it be to unbolt the rocker arms, and swap the springs and retainers? I could take the heads off but then Id need new gaskets and bolts which is another 150 dollars.
