Well, I just finished getting my powerdyne on the car that I bought from justanotherV6 (thanks for the help on the install btw, I owe you a lunch or something). It isn't making much boost yet (I'm assuming I just don't have the belt tight enough). Am I just suppose to tighten the belt as much as possible or is there a method to this? Also I've got a rattle from somewhere, I think it might be a loose bolt but what do the bearings sound like when they go bad on these things? Thanks for any help.
John.

Not sure on the sound....
On the boost thing it does sound like a slipping belt. Search for John D wrap or the grooved powerdyne pullies and you will find more on how to get the belt not to slip, but yes to tighten it you have to CRANK it as hard as you can to get it tight to limit slipping.
Re: Another powerdyne user... And I've got some Q's
Yeah, I've already done the John D wrap and I'm gonna try to put off the pulley until I get HP-Tuners and GTP injectors (which I know need to be modified) so I can go with a smaller one. Thanks for the info it is appreciated.

Re: Another powerdyne user... And I've got some Q's
Alright I did the tighting with the vice like it shows on Graymans site and the belt is still queeling. I've only had belts squeel if they are slipping so I'm assuming it's still too loose, any other ideas on how to get this thing tightened down?

Re: Another powerdyne user... And I've got some Q's
Press down or twist the belt on the long portion between the alternator and power steering... how much does it flex? I'd say you should be able to depress it about a half inch to 3/4 and twist it 90 degrees and thats how tight I usually had mine. Too tight and you'll overstress other pullies and especially the A/C. The rattle could be hard to say... mine always made a bit of a chatter at low idle, but bad bearings sounded more like a grinding noise which would make you cringe to listen to it.

Re: Another powerdyne user... And I've got some Q's
Perfect. Great info. It rattles pretty bad, I think i've figured it out though. I'll try to fix it tomorrow after work. I'll wait till after that to tighten the belt again. If I still have problems I'll post up again. Thanks guys.
John.

Re: Another powerdyne user... And I've got some Q's
hahaha, I can twist my belt past 180*, I think it's way loose lol. Thanks that solves one problem, but any suggestions on how to tighten it up. I got some pics now, I'll post em up once they are resized and all.

Re: Another powerdyne user... And I've got some Q's
To tighten the belt I always used a punch... but you could also use something like a big wrench (1 1/8" or something) and a hammer. Loosen the nut on the tensioner pulley just enough that you can force the bolt to slide when you tap the spacer behind the bracket with a hammer/punch. The wrench works fine if you have one big enough to slip over that spacer, but it never felt like the hammer taps were as solid. Anyway, have the nut just loose enough to move and then tighten it down after you tap on it. If that makes sense.

It does make sense. I'll try that today, thanks.

Re: Another powerdyne user... And I've got some Q's
Belt is tight now and boost is up. I got rid of the rattles. Apparently the wrong nuts were supplied with my kit... because the threaded rod is apparently 10mm. I don't blame the guy that I bought it from in the least it's an easy mistake to make. So I made a longer top rod to give me more room for two nuts rather than just the one and it got rid of the stripped rod from using the wrong nuts. Anyway the car is running pretty decent. Now it's time to figure out how I'm gonna run all my final pipes.

Re: Another powerdyne user... And I've got some Q's
Ehh, not really. The nuts almost work and in fact I bought them agan with the wrong rod and when the rod didn't thread into the block I knew something was a miss. Anyway now I've got a 10" 10mm rod for the top and a 8" 10mm rod for the bottom and all is good.
