  • turbo complete: Need help though, starting issue

Ok, so the whole setup is complete, I went to start it up and it cranks but didnt fire up. I pulled a plug, hooked it to a wire, cranked the car and there was no spark. Anyone have any idea?

I assume this is strictly spark related and not fuel correct? I checked the coil pack connection, looked fine, checked my engine ground, fine.

I pulled my AC and EGR during the build and have the two wire plugs for the them just sitting out. Would that mean anything?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Come on guys....I need some help here. Last nite I visually inspected the crank sensor and it looked fine. I got a voltmeter and tested the plug going into the coil packs (ICM?) and only one of the 14 pins were reading 12v, not sure what that means. Kinda stuck here.

I DO NOT want to take my turbo apart just so I can take my balancer off again. Any clues?

Is the engine trying to rotate when you start it? If so then then check your other sensors to see if they are getting 12v on crank and with the key in the accesory position. If they are geting juice then start checking your specific ignition parts to make sure they are connected and have a good ground connection. I'm no expert by any means but I would start going through a very detailed process of elimination on everything. It will seem so simple when you find it.

Yes it is trying to rotate, its almost like a chugging sound.

I suppose I will take out the crank and other sensors and test for 12v. If the sensor is getting 12v I assume that means its ok?

I have a scantool I used as well. If a sensor was bad I would guess a code would be thrown.

If you have a haynes manual it states the rsistance and voltages that most of the sensors should have. At work now so I don't have any detail for ya but check those. If your getting the voltage there then check your main PCM to make sure it is working properly.

you didn't happen to pull your fuel pump fuse at any part of the install did you???

The fuel pump I can hear being primed when the car is in on position. I will have to get a book and test the voltages of the sensors.

I assume its fine cause the lights and stereo come on and it has a real healthy crank to it when I try and start it. The starter takes a lot more charge then a coil ever will. Thanks for the thought tho

your not getting fuel, get a mechanical fuel pressure testor from sears.

Re: turbo complete: Need help though, starting issue

I am getting fuel, I can hear the pump run and can smell the fuel slightly after cranking. Also, fuel comes out of the schraeder valve when i push down on it.

There is def no spark, I checked the ignition wires and arcing the plugs....nothing

I'm going with PCM, check your other sensors and double check the grounds.

ah, i missed where you said no spark. well thats just wierd, make sure your Coil harness is plugged in all the way.

Ill double check all sensors....for the record I do have three plugs just hanging, one for the A/C that I pulled out, one that was on the silver A/C line and the EGR.

Are the only rounds that matter the "big 3" people talk about? Any other I should worry about?

Ill volt check the sensors and see if they are getting jiuce tonite.

there is a ground that comes off of the AC wiring that MUST be grounded.
