Yeah I couldn't see payin the 3500+ for a new powerdyne either, but they really have decent results for a simple "bolt-on". 260-300ish RWHP with good supporting mods isn't out of the question. You'll see them floating around for the low $2000 range used like one of mine that I'm selling :) Shoot me an email if you're interested and if not, enjoy the turbo world.

Do powerdynes really spin on the smooth side of the belt? never figured that out.

                  Re: Powerdyne

I was close to figuring it out before I switched from the powerdyne world, but it is pretty complicated. We just don't have the parts readily available to switch it over to a ribbed setup.

2k for a used powerdyne is a good deal. The thing about supercharging is you get the 9psi off the line, but a turbo......there is hardly a limit to how much boost you can push.....over time that is.

Not true with centrifugal superchargers. They build boost until redline. Hence you only get full boost with them at redline. You also have to rebuild boost after every shift unlike a turbo which holds full boost pretty much. The turbo is better for all out power but don't scoff at CSC's either. Now roots type and twin screw superchargers do offer full boost pretty much off the line but are damn near impossible to put on our cars.

As for the powerdyne running on the back of the belt, yes it does. But with the John_D wrap and a grooved pulley the slippage is almost nil. It would take a ton of work to get it to run on the ribbed side of the belt.

So there is pretty much no point in superchargers like powerdyne?

No no no. There is a point. It's a lot easier to put on the car than a turbo and tuning is much easier. Just don't be dissapointed when a guy with a well built turbo car (non STS) goes flying by you on the street or the track.
