I want to start by saying that my listed mods are way out of date, but I forgot how to change them or even get to my profile.

I have learned allot from this forum and felt it was time to share a modification I did to the Powerdyne belt tensioner. The C clamp or anything else I read didn't get for me! I have attached pictures of what seems to be working well.

Basically you just tap and thread the top of the tensioner bracket for a 1/4" bolt. Grind the threads off the bottom of the bolt so that it can counter sink into a 1/8" deep hole you drill into a flat spot of the bolt that holds the idler pulley. Make sure they line up!

When it's time to tighten the belt you just loosen the idler pulley nut substantially and turn the 1/4" bolt clockwise. Tighten the lock nut on the idler pulley and you're good to go! I even made an adjustment wrench that I carry in the car. It is 3/4" on one end with a 7/16" deep well socket welded to the other end.

I hope I did this post right.
    Enjoy,
    Dan G.

cool idea, where in MI are you located? I am over in Grand Rapids. You need to check out mifbody.com for more MI peeps ;)

We are almost done custom building a powerdyne kit on my brothers firebird, just a few loose ends to finish up. I will have to keep this idea in mind if we have belt issues.

Damn good idea. That would keep it from moving back out causing a loose belt. Well done, I'll have to modify mine now. BTW 97rs4life, if you need any specifics on the kit I've still got everything off my car so just let me know if you run into a problem. A PM on FTV6 would probably be the best way to get a hold of me. I'd be interested in seeing what you have thus far anyway... maybe an update thread?

Also you can't change your sig in your profile anymore unless you pay the site for it (mine is pretty out of date as well). Just the way things work now. Post up what you have done though, I'm interested in seeing what others have done to their car with their powerdyne.
