3.4 Turbo Kits

I've had a couple people ask me how my kit is coming along and heres the deal. I simply dont have the $ to design a complete kit. So those that want a kit heres what I can do. I'm think about offering just a piping kit. It would include all piping needed. The only thing that would need fab'd is turbo flange, this way you can run whatever turbo you want. I can make them with or without external WG piping. Or the other thing i can do is offer complete piping for a T70 setup since thats what I have to mock up. Let me know your thoughts. The cost would be around $800 maybe less

What other "figuring out" would be invovled after getting the piping setup from you? My (limited) understanding is that the piping and the tuning are the complex bits, the rest is just getting parts that work.

well it would depend on the setup you want to run. i could build the piping without a flange for the turbo so then all you would have to do is used the desired flange for whatever turbo you want to run. also you'd have to figure out if you wanted a internal or external WG you'd also would have to use a certain type/style of intercooler or slightly modify the intercooling piping based on your setup. the hard part is from the headers to the turbo, intercooling piping on a 3.4 is basicly a bunch of 90* bends or i can sell just the piping for just the hot side of the system

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/288292/9 is a link to what the pipes would possibly look like. they would be slightly different and a different color. i can build/include whatever you want assuming i have the parts to mock it all up. the easiest way would be to run the same setup as mine then i could build you a complete piping kit and all you would have to do is buy the other parts. i would build them by basicly removing my kit from my car and then build/fab a new set of pipes and test fit them on my car. again like i said before i would design a complete new kit but simply dont have the money to do that. offering a piping kit is simple let me know what everyone thinks.

Ben, for $800 I'd sign up. (I don't plan on doing the turbo for a few years, but to get the right piping, I'd store it in my garage until I was ready). Getting the right piping is what concerns me the most. I'm considering a T61 instead of the T70, but as you said, I can get the flange fabbed.

My questions are: does the piping include the intercooler pipes? Would the piping be different for a FB v a camaro (horizontal mount v vertical mount)?

the piping would be for a front mount top-bottom flow intercooler....soon as i finish up my current project i'll pull my kit off and see what all i can do.

If you need measurements/pics of the front bottom of the FB, let me know. I wonder though, if I am going with the smaller turbo, can I fit a smaller intercooler mounted up front? The problem though is there isn't much of an opening for air flow as it is.

Isn't the kit you have now the one any only FFF 3.4 production kit that was made? So basically you're going to try and copy Tiago's kit?
I would be careful with saying that any turbo could fit on it as long as you swap out the flange. I don't know too much about the room is around the turbo on his old kit but I bet if you got too big of a turbo(much larger than a T70) in there you might run into clearance problems.
Were you planning on welding these kits yourself?
From looking at those pics it looks like his old kit was an external wastegate kit with an open WG downpipe? If someone wanted an internal wastegate you might want to make sure there would be enough room for the actuator, bigger exhaust elbow, etc.

3.4 versus 3.8 argument? I have a built ford 7.3L Turbodiesel in my v6 comero. I win. Why can't we all just get along? Who cares?

If someone has the ambition to create a kit for the 3.4 guys, best of luck to them. Who cares if their design happens to be inspired by an existing setup? I'm sure alot of 3.4 guys will be happy.

I never brought displacement into this... when its turbocharged .4l is easily made up.

Ben doesn't post on here often because this crap. Seriously, take your debate elsewhere so I can get a frickin turbo setup. At this rate the thread will be locked, and Ben will keep his designs to himself.

that is 100% correct. for the record it wouldn't be a copy. no i personaly wouldn't be welding the kits. i would have my friend thats a certified welder weld them for me. if you have a probblem coping a kit then maybe you should tell tiago to make some more. i have the only one as far as i know. this IS NOT a complete kit. its simply the pipes. you do the research to figure out what you want and tell me so i can test fit it. as it stand now my car doesn't run because i dont feel like working on it right now so it can be a mock up car for now.you send me the waste gate intercooler whatever i'll make it fit. i'm not looking to make a ton of money i can do this for cheap cause i have a access to a pipe bender at work and dont have to buy expensive bends from a retail place.

i use an external setup

i could possibly start making them by mid to end of sept. depends on how much time i have. i'm cleaning the garage this weekend and pulling the kit off car and go from there. i may know as soon as next week, again depending on how much free time I have and how things go along
