  • help needed, no boost!

OkYesterday I was driving the maro with the new turbo on completely untuned. I had just put a boost gauge on and was reading good boost when I hit like 3k.

Anyways, I decided to get on it a little bit which I did. the wheels broke loose and I looked at the gauge and it said 10 lbs of boost! By the way, my wastegate wasnt hooked up properly and didnt bleed the boost at 5.5psi.

So then my car just dies as soon as it hit like 10 psi while its still going 30mph. I turn the car off and let it roll to a stop. I fire the car up again and it is fine, oil pressure is good and all, however, it wont give any boost now! Vacuum is good but the gauge wont go over 0.

The piping looks good and sealed and so do the vacuum lines. WHAT The heck! Any help would be great!

If your wastegate is screwed up could it be letting all the boost out? I"m not too technical on forced induction but if everything else checks out my first thought would be the wastegate or BOV. just my .02

dont have a BOV installed yet. Seemed to work fine before with my wastegate mounted incorrectly. I think it shut off cause the AF ratio was to lean and the car died when it was trying to throw in 10 PSI. Ill mess around with it

That wouldn't explain why you wouldn't get after you shut it off and restarted it though. Triple check all your piping, seals, couplings and wastegate. I still think your losing it somewhere along the path.

You dont think that I blew an intake gasket or something? I have my boost gauge tapped off the FPR which reads from the MAP sensor. I dont know....ill go check it out now

Check all the pipe connections. Sometimes under extreme pressure like that, a clamp or coupler will blow loose if you didn't tighten everything down real well.

Def fixed the problem. The tube going into the throttle body elbow was blown off underneath. I need to get my BOV installed soon, I dont like pushin boost without it on.

just waitin on UDLOSE98 to ship it!

Even with a BOV and high boost, you will run into this problem occasionally. Tack some beads around the end of your charge pipes to help keep them from slipping. Also spring for the good t-bolt clamps (if you haden't already).
