fuel pump question???

Hey guys, at the moment my turbo kit is set at 7 psi and I am only using a Vortech 6:1 FMU with regards to fuel. The car will be getting tuned in about 2 weeks. My question for you is should I go ahead and install a Walbro 255lph in-tank fuel pump while the car is in the shop pre-tuning? Or, is the FMU alone enough? Another route I was considering was ditching the FMU in favor of bigger injectors and the fuel pump, then getting it tuned. However, I plan on boosting 7psi for a while and I would rather spend the cash on other goodies if the pump and injectors are not necessary at 7 psi. Basically, since the FMU is already installed, would it be worth buying the fuel pump and injectors if I am going to be spending $400-500 to get it tuned?

Im surprised you havent upgraded the pump by now even on 7 psi.

I have yet to drive the car with the kit on it yet. Its been in the shop for the past 2 weeks getting some things done to it including the turbo kit. I've received mixed reviews about whether or not I would need the fuel pump. I definitely agree its better to be safe or sorry. Since the car is also already in the shop, this is a perfect time to have them slap on the pump. Would you guys recommend it? Any thoughts guys? I'd like to get this thing ordered today if need be. Would a better option be to get the racetronix kit and if so should I be getting the 99+ LS1 http://www.racetronix.com/RX-F99-FPKG-2.html or the LT1 kit http://www.racetronix.com/RX-FLT1-FPKG-2.html for a 1999 firebird?

I'd go with the Walbro 255, thats what I have and I like it.

yea i was leaning towards the walbro till I read some posts on the fullthrottlev6 forums from people with 99+ fbodys that had issues with the walbro and liked the racetronix. So i'm sort of leaning towards racetronix since i have a plastic tank.

a year ago it cost me $1000 to replace my fuel pump and have it installed.

Nah, OEM fuel pumps are like $300 and the labor is VERY expensive because the whole rearend and fuel tank have to be dropped to change it.

Its cheaper and easier to do it yourself by doing the "trap door" method in which you cut a whole right above the fuel tank so you dont have to drop it out.
