So yesterday I'm driving back to Purdue (I went home for the weekend) and just cruising along at 60mph on the highway when I notice my check gauges light was on. I follow my cars suggestion and check my gauges, my water temperature had flown up to 250ish degrees. I immediately shut my car off and pop her into neutral and coast to the side of the road. I pop the hood to see if anything obvious is wrong, and I see that my belt is ripped to shreds. I wait till my engine isn't boiling hot, and i check the pulleys to see if any of them wouldn't spin, and low and behold my supercharger pulley wont spin. We took the intake tubing off, and the impeller fins make about a half spin before stopping, and then they spin about half a turn backwards before stopping, and the pulley on it wont budge. Had to have the car towed home, and had to have my dad drive me back to Purdue. I'm hoping the pulley bearings just seized instead of the internals of the supercharger themselves. Looks like a $400 rebuild is in my future. Its every car enthusiasts nightmare to see their car up on a flatbed...

:( I'm gonna be there soon too.. I haven't finished the build yet but I just know it. Except it'll be on the turbo side of things.

Sounds like the internal belt broke or slipped off and is wrapped around the input shaft. Happened to me a couple of times. What size pulley are you running?

Dude hope you get it fixed cause if the supercharger is broken it would be pretty bad because you just spent a whole lot of money putting it together.

I believe it is 3.12", or very close to that, made for 6psi. If the belt broke/slipped off wouldn't the pulley still be able to spin? It wont budge one bit. My dad is home putting the car back to N/A and then he and my cousin are gonna drive it and my decommissioned Powerdyne back down here for me, at which point I'm gonna see whats goin on inside it.

Yeah, from what I hear about your Camaro I'm not surprised I guess. Did you just need to move them places or did your cars crap out while driving? Congrats on the Lotus also

yeah, i hope once i crack her open i see nothing wrong and its just the pulley, or the belt just slipped off or something. doubtful though.

I think this calls for a 928 Motorsports headunit rebuild and go for 12 psi

haha yeah, im definately calling 928 tomorrow, but 12psi is a little high unintercooled dont you think? I'm already knocking with 7psi. Getting a tune though once the car is back up and running, so that should go away.
