I will be installing a 3/8" oil plug in my oil pan. Is it a bad idea to JB weld it after it is threaded in?

Re: JB Weld on oil plug?
Are these for turbo oil lines? You're talking about oil fittings and not just a plug for the pan, right?
Probably depends on what type you get but some turbo guys will chime in. I don't see why you couldn't JB weld for security but you should be able to get some type of fitting/bung that wouldn't need anything else.Last edited by NCState98; 04-22-2008, 02:21 PM.\'98 Camaro V6
Appearance... pleasing
Performance... just a little extra air.

Re: JB Weld on oil plug?
Its a good idea to drop the pan but you dont have to. If you dont drop the pan, then use vaseline on the drill bit to get the metal shavings and use a REALLY strong magnet on the bottom of the pan to catch anything that may fall in. Then when you change the oil, pour fresh the oil thru the system several times with the drain plug out so that it washes out any remaining shavings as well.sigpic
