With beginners this method will work unless he is running over 20 lbs of boost. I was trying to give him the easiest way to do this like everyone else running boost has done it. Hell I even kept mine block, since I don't want nitrous shooting up there.
I agree with the oil cap breather.

It's the "how" the factory system works is where I have a problem.

The hole in the TB goes into the casting wall of the UIM and down through the LIM into the crankcase to provide filtered fresh air to the crankcase. When the pressure inside the crankcase increases, another vent line connects to the spring loaded PCV valve which opens and vents the oily air into the UIM. That is how a POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION system works.

Take it apart and you will see.
ok, that finally makes sense. I should've looked into the PCV system closer. Breather it is - any suggestions?

        As for the how:

        1. piston blow-by pressurizes crank case
        2. gas is vented through pcv valve to intake manifold/throttle body
        3. crankcase pressure is now normal again

The pcv valve itself allows air/blow-by gas to leave crankcase, but not enter it.
As a side note, you can check a pvc valve by pulling it out and shaking it in your hand. If it rattles, it's good.

EDIT: ya this is just a simpler explanation of what firebirdgt said

Don't' know the size but ZZP one fits perfect on the filler neck, kind of likes screws in. I've had mine about 7-8 years.
