well ive been entertaining the thought of switching from my powerdyne setup to piecing together a FFH turbo system. I know what a turbo setup needs to run properly and how to set it up, but what I dont know is what all the spec numbers mean when I'm looking at turbos online. I'm pretty sure I want to go with a Garrett turbo, because I've heard that they are arguably the best, and I dont want to cheap out with something as important as a turbo. but when i look at their website theres about 30 different turbos in the large frame turbo section... so I was wondering if someone could help me out as to which turbo they have would be good for a 3.8L, not too big that it takes years to spool up, but not too small that i cant make good hp numbers.

Re: turbo help
From my experience with the Blue Camaro I did the FFH on the turbos that fit the Buick GN's are a very good solution for your 3.8L.
They all use the same basic configuration... Flanges.. downpipes and are engineered for the 3.8L.
What is your power goals and ET goals... Threre are many GN turbos that would fit your setup.
Honestly has fast as the Blue car spools up there's no reason a good 60series turbo ment for a GN would have NO lag with a stock converter... The "TA 49" that's on this blue car is insane with responce.
He'll go into the 12's this year with a sticky tire on 93oct no doubt. They put in a 3:42 posi out of a Z28 but now it just spins 2 tires instead of one Lol.
Mail me any time... I sent you a PM.

Re: turbo help
power goals? well im going with Abbott Racing heads, custom grind cam, and will be stroking to 4.2L, so id like to see 400-500whp when all is said and done.Last edited by 99BlackW68; 08-15-2008, 10:14 PM.

Re: turbo help
bb series? you mean ball bearing? i do want a ball bearing turbo. the GT3582R looks pretty good, but it comes with some options for the turbine section's A/R, looks like .63 A/R, .82 A/R, and 1.06 A/R. what would be best with that? also it says you can get a 4 bolt turbine outlet or the V-band. which is better?Last edited by 99BlackW68; 08-16-2008, 01:35 PM.
