  • questions about turbocharging

Well, I have a couple of questions about turbocharging, my car is a '94 3.4 auto, and i want to be fast on cheap, i know is not exactly cheap but i want to start saving money and buying parts in the next months to boost my car, first question is: size an A/F ratio of the unit, i think a T3/T4 would be good for decent power from 2,500 to 5,000 RPM, i want to make power up to 6k RPM but the operation range about 2,200 to 5,500 RPM cuz the stocker heads and restrictive plenum, other question is fuel delivery, i dont know much about this but i think a FMU would work fine, i don't know much about FMU ratios, i'm sure that i will need bigger injectors and adjustable FPR too, another question is timing advance, can i run stock advance with 9 PSI of boost (intercooled)? or if there is a way to adjust or eliminate advance, i don't worry about piping, i can do that, i already have a walbro 255 LPH fuel pump, thanks in advance.

    am i missing something?

    Re: questions about turbocharging

im running 7psi right now on my powerdyne setup with a 6:1 FMU, but will be going back to 9psi here soon, but before then im gonna install my 38# injectors, 255 fuel pump, and tune. i wouldnt advise relying on an FMU above 7psi. go injectors and a tune, you'll get better hp numbers with that route also, and your engine will thank you for lowering the chance of lean conditions at high RPM's and WOT

stock injectors can easily max out if you apply too much pressure to them with a high ratio FMU and they fire more of a jet of fuel instead of a mist...that is not what you want

what about 21lb injectors, lower fuel pressure, stock tune and higher ratio FMU... and about nitrous, no way, is cheapest on the first investment but refilling the bottle periodically isnt.
i am in the way for a turbo, i'm searching locally for a unit but haven't decided yet which one...
