  • 98 Firebird Purchase:

    Well.... it happend by chance.

A local friend of mine had a co-worker that had a accident with her 98 3.8L Firebird just before putting it away for the winter. She was thinking of selling it before this happend for a FWD all season car and hitting somthing kind of made the decision for her.
I'm going to purchase the car damaged (front fender/rocker/slight door) which is nothing for me to fix. Other than that the car's in great shape.. new tires... 94,000mi.

I'll be using this for my turbo test's and mocking up pipes for a kit. Alot of guys on here have asked questions and have wanted me to make a kit for these cars... well.. I'm putting my feet in the water and buying this car to make the kit from and then I'll sell this one all tuned and ready to go for someone this spring.
    I'll post pic's tomorrow.

That's a decent mileage to do a turbo on. Good luck.

Tore the car down today... it's ready for parts which I'll have next week. I should have all the body work done and painted by next friday!!

I'll start working on the turbo setup when the 97Camaro heads back to it's owner.

        Cheers,
        Scott~

(Just fender, rocker, mirror and paint! Sweeeeet. Interior is super clean. Got to love laidy drivers.) :)

            Update:

I'm still waiting on a title for this car .... Grrrrrrrrrrr

This lady's bank is the hold up I guess. But I've got the fender on it and the door
            repaired.
            I replaced the:
Rear end pinion seal, and fluid.... it has a 3:42 posi!!!! Nice!
            Transmission rear seal,fluid,filter
Pulled the oil pan,Replaced gasket and welded in a -8 oil return from the turbo.
            Changed plugs and oil/filter.
Just got the pillar pod with boost gauge and AEM wideband for it yesterday.
I've located a GN turbo for it and will go ahead and use this car as the test
Mule for the FFH setup that I will be selling as a kit in many different ways for
people on budjet's to people who what the most power.
Basic options>.... and i'll get into more in a different thread.

Passenger side log FFH. (Mild steel or stainless)
            Crossover (Mild steel or stainless)
Drivers side, Can use stock GTP cast iron upside down OR Matching turbo log
            manifold. (mild steel or stainless)
Any of them can be HPC Coated.(local place here is decent..and cheap)(Jet Hot is best)
I will have firm pricing very soon as I will be having these made by a header manufacture after I make the first prototype for them to get a Jig setup for production.
I will have pictures very soon and pricing/info.

            Thanks,Scott~

                FFH does not = log

                log = log

                header = header

it does matter, more so for cam profile then anything ;););)

Ok... it's more a turbo log than a true 3 into 1 header.
Manifold might be a good term.

                      Talk about twins :)

I'll keep you guys posted... I'm looking at making a LS1 throttle body kit right now as well so you can re-locate the MAF pre-turbo with a 3.5" LT1 MAF
and just have a larger throttlebody and more room for your turbo coupler connection
                      on there.
I should have the Throttle body here in the next day or so. I'm going to put it on and the LT1 MAF to see how much LTFT/STFT it get's with the stock computer.
                      News soon,
                      Scott~

you need HP tuner for the LT1 maf to work
