  • rear mount turbo?? help!!

k i have a 96 bird and i want to run a rear mount setup on it. I plan on using a fmu. What can i do to increase timing so i dont have to worry bout detonation problems? i dont want to switch to a 97 pcm and buy hp tuners. kinda out of my budget Thanks for the help.

Tuning is absolutely critical to a turbo'd car. Its a complete waste of time and money if you arent going to do it right and tune it.

    Just my .02

BTW, you dont want to increase timing with boost. You want to retard the timing...

You're gonna have to increase that budget. It sucks but tuning has to be done.

To answer your question though...yes you can adjust your timing with the MSD DIS-4 (~$400 and is EXTREMELY unreliable) and race gas (~$6.50 per gallon).

Save your money on those and do it right with a PCM, wideband, GTP injectors and HPT. A turbo car that is untuned will be slow, run like crap and wont run for very long = big waste of valuable time and money.

Im not trying to be an @sshole I just want to present the facts before you mod your car, dont get good results and then it blows up and you are left with nothing.

        Good luck on your project.
