I went down to the Garrett dealer today to put some money down so they can start to make my Garrett GT35R, it's going to be a .63 A/R with 3" Vband and polished housing, since I already got a polished cover for the exhaust side. He said I should be making 400 to 450 at the wheels with 10- 12 PSI. He showed me a New Honda they were working on( I think a Civic or Prelude, it was a 2 door) that had a GT35R with a .83 A/R they were making for a show(SEMA I think). I asked him why the higher A/R and he said because he is shifting at 8000 RPMS.WOW(I was surprised) I didn't know they shifted that high of RPM. He said it will be making 400+ HP with 15 PSI, looked great. The reason I went with a .63 A/R is because I shift at 5900-6000 RPMS, any higher over 6000 RPMS to 6500 RPMS and it would choke up on the top end. The spool should be around +/- 3000 RPMS ,which my car when it shifts out of 1st gear is always above 3000 RPMS with the 3.73's in the rear. He was saying your going to have traction problems with your F-Body, but then I told him my suspension upgrades and he said you'll be fine then. He said it should be done by the end of the week. I was surprised how small they are, I'll get some pics when I get it.

Re: Went down to the Garrett dealer today
I saw yours before for sale , but for me I won't buy used parts if I'm building something for the first time. Thats just me though I don't want to have to deal with any problems except the ones that are my own fault.lol He gave me a great deal, brand new, the 3" Vband and polished compressor side , plus a free gasket kit with no tax $1300, thats at least a $1500-$1600 turbo also get a year warranty on it. The guy is really cool he will beat any price on stuff he can get, because he first said $1400 just for the turbo until I said this place has it for $1240 then he lowered it to $1200 and then $50 for the V band and $50 for the polish. And said I'll through a free gasket kit in with it.Last edited by ssms5411; 02-17-2009, 11:38 AM.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: Went down to the Garrett dealer today
Sorry, I didn't get it. Are you saying that they are building you a custom turbo specifically for your car?
It's not a kit right?
There's a Garrett shop 20 miles from me. They sale and do rebuilt mostly. I don't think they make any kits for any cars.Last edited by Mighty Thor; 02-18-2009, 03:37 AM.

Re: Went down to the Garrett dealer today
Building the turbo I want to my specs GT35R .63 A/R 3" V Band f(or a 3" downpipe), polished compressor housing(should run great with my mods), then will be putting it on some stainless GTP manifolds, This is what I have so far:
31 X 12 X 4 " intercooler with 3" in/outlets
Tial 38 mm waste gate 11 pound spring
intercooler piping ALM. with BOV mount
BOV
-4an feed line with restrictor, -10an return line with all fittings/ gaskets
polished turbo heat shield for exhaust side, thats why I wanted a polished comp. side
65lb motron injectors, have 36lb injectors in it right now
Have all T clamps and hose connectors for the cold side, 4" K&N filter
Have a 1foot 3" flex pipe that will go over my Tub. K to connect up to my exhaust
Heres what I need off the top of my head:
Just need a 3" downpipe with a O2 bung for wideband sensor, some 3" clamps
Need to "T" off from my top of the radiator and get some coolant lines for the turbo. or I just might use the heater hoses, since I might reroute them and wrap them anyway.
Tee for the oil sender
The stainless steel manifolds with a fitting for the wastegate and maybe EGT O2 bung
I have 3" flanges to weld up to the existing exhaust and 3" pipe so I will just need someone with a gas welder to weld up everything when its done.
So I still have a little bit to go probably months, I don't move so well I do something one day and then I'm in bed for a couple of days. I take my meds and feel good then try to do stuff then after the meds wear off, I wish I would of never done it. Too much pain to be in for that couple of days, can't walk or move. Did it today again taking out all my nitrous wiring, sloenoids, nitrous lines , switches, cutout switches , 928 bottle mount bottle opener, nitrous gauge, purge solenoid and purge push switch. I had to remove all my side panels and rear seat deletes , console and the cover under the dash. I still need to take out some wires and I'm going to put my Batt. in the rear so I have to run the 1 ga. wire back there and mount the box and take out the stock coolant res. and put in my Alm. 1 qt. coolant reservior in. So still alot to do. So much to do and so little time.
I was going to go with Tiago's kit but he didn't answer my last email which he answered alot of them so I do give him credit for that and gave me good info, but he wanted me to use a T4 flange and every turbo I picked was a T3 like the GT35R which I really like.I was going to use a turbo I bought and get everything else from him, but it was still alot of money. I got a turbo that cost twice of the T70 and more towards the needs of my car specs and when I get everything done I will have saved $2000-$2500, instead of buying the FFF kit, can't beat that.LOL But like the Garrett dealer said your car is going to be very quick on the street with 10-12 PSI. I told him what has been done to the car and how much weight I have taken off and I want to turn it up to 15 PSI for the track and run my ProStars and 275/40/17 M.T. drag radials. So he said it is going to be really fast, asked me if I was going for 11's, I said no just want some mid/low 12's and I'll be statisfied. My total expense with just doing the turbo part and not adding the 65lbers,moving the Batt., and coolant res. should be around $3000 about what my budget was, had more but had bills to pay(medical of course), budget went down. But I will be posting alot of nitrous parts (actually I have about 2 complete wet kits)+xtra bottle and about every accessory, fittings switches ETC. I'll post once I have everything out and pics taken. Sorry guys for the long post, I just kept typing and just noticed how long it got. Wish me luck because I'm going to need it. I'll keep you guys updated. I will probably have some questions for some of you once I get started.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
