Definitely. I'll be looking back at this thread if I ever get a turbo that requires it.
In that case I'm going to delete it. J/K LOL Thanks for the reply. My kit might be on hold for a little bit I will have just about all the parts but, I will have my heart surgery coming up, and I don't know how long after that I will have my back surgery. I might put off the back surgery to next year, the car comes first.LOL

I dunno, it'd probably be a good idea to get that back surgery so you can lean over the engine bay better. Or spend money on the car. Decisions. It's almost like a paradox.

I pay zero for either surgery since I'm on LTD(long term disability) through the County(pretty good insurance, always go to the Mayo Clinic), the heart one is a over night stay with 6 month rest and the back is I don't know how long of stay since they go through the stomach to replace the discs and move the nerves that are touching or like they said , "they are in a figure eight deformation" and I'm missing 2 smaller bones(PARS Defect) that support the lower back. The healing time is 1 year and they can't garantee any success or it could make it worse.LOL I really want to get the heart done so I can get off the Warfin (rat posion)(blood thinner) since it makes me really fatigue quicker than normal. And I know that one will work like it should. So will see......
If it came out of my pocket it would be about a little over 200,000 for both of them.

I just want to be in the 12's , I have a set of extra rims/tires for the track, front Prostars and for the rear 275/40/17's M.T. drag radials on some 17 X 9" rims. They are still new.LOL I think with 8-10 PSI and with the lighter car I can get there. I weigh 280lbs which before the police academy I weighed 235lbs, so with the surgeries I hope to be more active, I use to run about 2 miles every other night and go to the gym 4 days a week. It is mainly a street car , so I hope to just go to the track maybe a couple of times a year. So I hope for about 350wrhp to 400wrhp and 12's in the 1/4. I really don't want to push it to where I blow the tranny or rear, not worried about the engine it is fully built with forged pistons ETC. What numbers are you shooting for?

As close to a 12.00 as possible without going faster. I like bracket racing and any faster I'd have to be in the next class. I'm not really sure what kinda horsies it's gonna take to get that exactly but I wouldn't mind saying I have a 350-400+hp v6
I think we're in the same boat so we're gonna have to do some time slip racing. Is that what they call bench racing?
I've got a tubular K member, to put in yet. And a differential along with some tires to find yet. And pay for.. ugh.
I ran mid 14's in this car last year on a failing fuel pump, open differential and, a really crappy tune. With just a better tune and new fuel pump now I'm pretty sure it would completely blow the doors off of those mid 14 runs. If I could keep traction that is.
Downshifting going 40-50mph and suddenly jumping into boost is kinda scary since it breaks the tire loose. Yes, tire. Not plural. BAH!
I think we are in the same boat, once you get the Posi in there you will be alot happier. That UMI TQ arm really hooks the rear tires to the road, only downfall is it sits low but if you have not lowered your car it is fine. I also got the rear battery in and will be a Dyna Batt. up front so I lost another 30lbs up front or around their. The 40lb Optima batt. in back helps plant the tires too. I'm waiting for the isolator I ordered for the batteries so it will have a high/low setup. What amount of boost are you seeing?

Bah, I sent a reply last night but couldn't get back to the site. I see the reply didn't make it either.
Anyways.. I didn't even think of getting a torque arm so that's a great idea. Especially since I'm not lowering the car. I have some UMI rear LCAs to match :)
The boost I'll be staying at hopefully is 7-9psi. I'll know if I have to get a controller when I get to the track.
I can't spin them even from a 2200 stall it just plants and goes and will chirp 2nd and 3rd. So the notice was great from the stock one. Even lauching and having the nitrous kick in , it would loose traction for a sec. then get back in it and this is with street tires. I think the MT drag radials would be outstanding. Can't wait to get the turbo on. I finally get to pick it up on Thurs. since it will have the 3 bolt flange put on and he will have it put together with GT wheel and polished housing and balanced. I think he is really intereted in it, because I don't think he has seen a modded V6 Camaro before like mine.

When I found out my turbonetics turbo I got ripped off on was shot.. I went to a turbo dealer here. He hadn't a clue in the world as to what to put on my car. Apparently he was all about diesel turbo's.
Eventually he found me a remanufactured garret for 500 bucks. I can't even remember the specs on it, which is something I should know but I really don't. i think the turbine housing is a .58 and the compressor is a .63 He said it should give me reliable boost up to 12psi which is the max i want to do anyways.
It is loud too. I don't have a lot of experience to compare but this turbo screams. It came from an allis chalmers tractor apparently. One of the best 500 bucks I've spent.

Have you ever ran any turbo before this project?
No turbos, just a powerdyne at around 8-10 PSI and then the nitrous at a 125 wet. I road in my wifes older brother's 03'(I think or newer has 4 doors)Ford F-350 quad cab turbo diesel with a 5" exhaust, upgraded turbo, bigger injectors, chip burned and one of those kits you can adjust the power like a bully-dog setup or something. That is a monster of a truck, the guy he bought it from had his own exhaust shop so it was a nice 5" exhaust coming after the rear tire. He had a huge chrome tip on it , I could fit my hand in it.LOL When he starts it up it is F'in loud and it sits high for a stock ride, I could barely get up in it. He just uses it for towing. He towed his boat to OK. and spent just in gas $1500 I think it was, a 35 gallon tank I think it has, just a single one, thought that was werid, most big trucks I thought had 2 tanks.
But anyways .63 A/R is all you need, if you shift at 6000 rpms and below if any higher it will choke out up top. Because your specs sound like mine, the dealer guy said the little turbo is going to be making some noise.LOL I think he said mine would max at 15-20 PSI , which it will never see, I got a tial 38mm waste gate with a 11 PSI spring, I figure if I lose 2-3 PSI through the big @ss intercooler 31 X 12 x 4 3"in/out it will put me at 8-9 PSI and with my setup I should make at least 350 wrhp to 400wrhp. It is going to be interesting to see how my VS cam(pretty much bigger than stock at 206/216 115LS) and 3.73 gears respond to the turbo. The cam lets out more exhaust so it should spool quick but with the 3.73's, no boost in first gear I'm guessing and 2nd should be fun, I hope to get at least 5psi or 7 psi before shifting into 3rd and 3rd I hope to have full boost all the way through to 121 mph before 4th gear comes in. I think 1st is 39mph, 2nd gear is 75mph and 3rd is 121mph shift points, shifting at 5900. So it should be interesting. I just want a fun street car mostly and if it does 12's at the track so be it.

Ah so you'll be able to compare a powerdyne to a turbo. I'm pretty interested in how that switch will be.
I am going with 3.42 gears though to help with load to keep it spoolin. I'm just curious if it's even a good idea to get away from these 3.08 gears but I'll only know when I get some traction.
So are you going to be installing the cam yourself? If you do, I'd love to see some pics of the install. I'm gonna be doing that myself eventually along with new heads as soon as I make this credit card disappear.
You're going with FFH right? I'm gonna be making some myself when I get this new K member in but I need some good inspiration. I've got a pretty good idea of what I want to do with the old log manifolds but honestly, I'd rather stay away from those and go with some real headers.
I already have the cam and built engine in my car, for about 6 years now. 3.42's are nice gears I ran them for about 7 years, just switched this last Nov., to the 3.73's before I decided to go turbo. I finally got all my nitrous stuff out of my car and will be selling it soon. I can't believe how much nitrous stuff I have accumulated over 2-3 years, it is crazy!. Yes, I'm going with some GTP logs with stainless steel coating and a stianless steel down pipe with a flex hose on it and 2 bungs one for wideband and one for EGT (I think thats where I'm putting it,don't know for sure), with all the lines braided, turbo compressor polished, heat sheild polished for hot side and 1QT. coolant over flow tank shiny ALM. with the black engine bay it will look pretty shinny.LOL
