  • Shorter A/C line installed

Well, my Dad stopped by this morning and pretty much did all the work putting on the shorter line and new accumalator and recharging it with freon. Nice 37-40 degrees coming out the vents. Was a nice dry hot day. I still need to install my (11LB) 32mm hollow sway bar and take the (34LB) 35mm out to make some more room but the new line came out great as you can see in the pic. no leaks or anything so far, so its looking good , I thought I was going to have to pay $135 for a vacuum test and freon, so I'm glad I bought a recarge kit for $50. This will make some room for the turbo and piping and not worrying about the A/C line.

So your dad did that huh. That's a pretty good job.

Maybe a good write up this will help a lot of turbo guys here so they don't have to sacrifice AC and maybe even SC guys since the AC line has to lope around the SC of both PD and ATI.

Some A/C guy did the hose , when I posted pics when I got the hose done. I was waiting for a nice hot dry day so we could add the freon with out me having to spend $135 for a vacuum and freon job. Only problem we had is that I forgot to put the manual fan switch on high when he was adding freon, but as soon as I remembered to flip it on high the freon on went right in and cooled it down between 37-40 degrees. I forgot the computer automaticaly kicks the fans on high when you turn the A/C on at a certain point, so with the manaul fan switch it was quicker. This is perfect for a turbo or supercharger install, I know I wasn't going to mess with the A/C line again, I had enough with the Powerdyne wraping it around it. LOL Tomorrow is the 32mm sawy bar install if I'm not to sore from today, I tried to get under and get the assembly bolt off the compressor but I couldn't get it, my Dad got it off in about 30 seconds. hey I was wondering if you had the drawings for this so that maybe I could get mine done. Either that, or a name for whom I need to contact lol. BTW, I jsut got my manis rewelded the other day and they are looking wonderful (no leaks). I will be picking up a set of heads and upper and lower intakes later this week

I got an extra 2 good A/C asssembly hoses(I didn't know if they were going to mess one up trying it so i bought another used one) , I will have to look for my drawings and specs I gave them. I could just give them the 2 A/C hoses once I find the specs and have them done. So if someone else wanted 1, I could sell it to them, of course my usuall fee included.LOL My specs were actually about 3 inches too long so we had to do some reworking of it to fit. So I think I would remeasure it so it would fit easieer. My Dad showed me where it would need to be corrected. I'll see if I have my diagrams and go from there.

Alright I found my specs and diagrams that I gave a copy to the PHX A/C guy, I'm going to go down and talk to the guy at Nappa and see if he can get ahold of him to do a few with the new dimiisions added to the line where it will bolt up easier to the accumulator easier without having to bend stuff around to make it fit.

A new assembly is $85 and they charged $60 for mine to modify but I don't know if they will stay the same or not. I'll let you know.

The assmebly hoses are both the same part # for V6 or V8. Nappa didn't do my A/C hose it was a PHX A/C shop that Nappa sent it to, since a guy at Nappa new of the place.

My mistake , I thought I looked it up , but I just checked and your right they are different, but it shouldn't matter to much if it is long like the V6 hose it can be shortened. I'm going to talk to the guy at Nappa to see if he can call his friend at the A/C place and see if he would do some more, I have 2 used V6 hoses that are in good condition that I want to see if he can correct the problem we ran into with mine so it will be eaiser to install without modifying it more.

                          Re: Shorter A/C line installed

I am not trying to shorten my hose. Since i swapped in the ls1, the ls1 hose ends dont connect to the rest of my system. I went to napa to have 2 3.8 ends put on my ls1 hose and he said he couldnt find the right parts. Metric made this guy all confused

I would find a A/C shop in your area, I was lucky the guy knew the A/C shop guy. But AZ has alot of shops since it gets really hot here. Good luck
