  • Turbo support?

Yeah, after installing my tub K I've got a lot of room to play with now. So I'm redoing everything.
I've already hacked up the old Y pipe and kept the pieces that are still of use. And btw, there were holes and cracks everywhere that I apparently didn't see since the pipes were cleaned up real nice before they were sent to me. Now I can't wait to see what kind of performance I'll get from this thing after I'm done with it.

Anyways, I need a new way of supporting the turbo since the stock K member had a bit to do with it before. There are still the 2 open bolt holes on the top of the turbo that I plan to use with some sort of bracket.

I was thinking about fabbing up some aluminum bracket ,shock tower brace style. Anyways, I need some inspiration or good ideas to copy.

I just plan on using bolts off the engine on one side with a 90 off of it and my t4/t3 adapter just bolt it on to that, then on the other side use the fan mount bolts so it is supported by both sides.

I've read in "Maximum Boost" that the bracing needs to be flexible to allow for thermal expansion. Especially with stainless exhaust.

I guess some 90* brackets like ssms suggested would work if they were thin enough that you could wiggle them by hand, but not so much that they would allow the turbo to bounce.

You could always use like a rubber bushing at the ends so it can move and will be still firm depending on how tight you screw the bolt in.

Well, I do have broken endlinks. The rubber bushings are still good so I could use those. I already used the shaft part from the endlinks as a metal bushing that fit f'n perfectly in my upper front shock mount. Long story.

I have all my front and rear rubber bushings when I switched to poly, so I will use a couple of them.
