  • Just got my powerdyne!

Just got my powerdyne in from superchargerrebuild.com. Got here in 3 days! Seems to be in perfect condition. I talked to Todd and he was very helpful with everything. Just letting everyone know that I got my stuff without any problems.

Congrats. Better watch when you bang 3rd gear with your M5 or it might go boom. Like mine did. Also I would look into meth. injection if it gets over 100 degrees in the summer, oh wait your in TX , so i would look into a meth. kit. What pulley size are you running? Also good luck with it and def. watch 3rd gear it took my about 1 year before it expolded after the cam went in and 3.42's.

I dont know anything about the meth kits, can you recommend one? Yea Ive been afraid of blowing my transmission, is it when you miss a gear or just slam it into gear?

For meth kits, check out Snow Performance or Devil's Own kits. There are some good threads on this site about meth and water injection, if you're looking for a good read.

Oh, and congrats on the Powerdyne.

Coolingmist , had a special on some 1.5 gallon trunk mount kits and a progressive controller so you can adjust it on the box o hook up your laptop to it and map it out to your own custom specs. Its not missing a gear(but thats bad also) just the added power it puts on th gear and it ends up breaking into pieces. Mine did it when I had a Spec 3+ clutch and at about 5700 rpms talk about a loud noise.LOL Clutch held but the gear didn't. My first dyno before all the 928 mods was 288 WRHP and 330 TQ spike was 11-12 PSI and came back down to 8-9 PSI. Then blew the tranny driving home from work and never had it dynoed again but I think it was well over 300 WRHP, I didn't want to break the 00' M5 so I was going to get a G-Force tranny , but ran into some money problems sold the PD and then had a stroke, so I swaped a A4 in it do to left leg issues and not bring able to push the clutch in from the stroke. If your running 6-7 PSI you should be good, I was spiking at 11-12 PSI and then coming back down to 8-9 PSI this is with 2.6" grooved pulley. Sorry for the long post , hope it clears up some questions. I also had a coolingmist setup back then too. And used my winddheild resisvor for the meth. container which held about 1 gallon. PM me if you have questions about setups, I think I tried everything back then when I had the PD.

I appreciate all the info man. After I get the powerdyne running smoothly on the 6lb pulley I plan on making the transmission stronger. That way I can up it a little later and not worry about it. I have a stock motor with a warranty :) so I need to be conservative for now. Im just curious what kind of power Im going to make on a stock motor with good tuning.

                Re: Just got my powerdyne!

I would up grade your valve springs and pushrods, mine were stock springs/lightweight pushrods and I was getting valve float at 5700 rpms, so COMP 105LB springs and their COMP 5/16 Pushrods with ZZP modded retainers would be a nice upgrade for it since the PD is based by RPM so if you can take it up to 6000 or 6100 you'll get some more power out of it. I had Intense lightweight pushrods when I did mine, big mistake later found out 8 out of the 12 were warped or bent this was after I sold it so I think I could have made even more power with it, so just passing this info on to you if you want to do it.

                  Re: Just got my powerdyne!

Well I have some 105s from my last cam install, one broke on me though so I dont trust the 105s. I switched to 130s would this be ok? With titanium retainers and hardened pushrods?

                    Re: Just got my powerdyne!

you will need a double roller timing chain with those springs, in which case will disable the balance shaft.

                      Re: Just got my powerdyne!

Comp tested my 105lb springs for me for free and then gave me a new set. They know the batch #'s that are bad and will overnight the springs back and forth, there were 130 bad batches too, but all the newer springs are good. If you buy a used set and don't have the batch #, I would never use them without calling or emailing comp. Great customer service. Some have ran 130lb springs on stock chain for 20,000 miles but its not recommended, so I wouldn't chance it. 105LB springs are very nice springs, matched with modded retainers and you have alot of clearance.
