Thanks for the info. I thought that it was supposed to idle at 1000 rpm also, because my old Mustang GT did. Just found out that it was supposed to be 700-something.1998 Firebird 3800 Series II, A4
Direct-Flo Lid,K&N Filter,DEE TB Spacer,TPS-TEC,ZZP Mini-AFC,Raised and Cutout Airbox 7mm,BMR STB & Boxed LCAs,KYB AGX Shocks,Drilled/Slotted Rotors,180* Thermo,2.5\" Catco Cat,Dynomax 2.75\" custom catback,Kumho Ecstas/245,Jet Stage 2,3.42,Edge Racing 2870 Stall,B&M Tranny Cooler,B&M Deep Tranny Pan,LSD,AAM Girdle,1LE DS,NX Wet Kit,MSD DIS-4,MSD Blaster Coil Packs,Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm Wires,NGK TR6\'S gapped .045,ZZP UD WP Pulley,SLP Fan Switch,TT II\'s
N/A: 15.6342 @ 88.44 (On stock converter. My idle would drop to 0 and jump to 1500 and down to 500 and so on. The solution was to remove the IAC from the TB (throttle body) and clean it really good with carb cleaner. Push the pintle in so you get the clearance needed when reinstalling. This solved my problem.
Since this is part of the fuel system you might suspect other components are dirty. It's a good idea to clean the TB itself by spraying carb cleaner into it. I noticed improvement from this as well.
I also decided to pour in a bottle of Slick 50 fuel system cleaner to see if it would help.
Check inside the airduct for cleanliness, if it is dirty, you may want to clean this too.
