  • help troubleshoot a noise

Recently I've gotten a ticking noise well it sounds more like something is loose and is hitting against something but I cant find anything.

I started to pay a little more attention; the noise is most apparent around 3k RPM and is consistent with how much throttle I give the car (if I slow down it will slow down.)

At first I thought it was my fans because once the temp reaches 210 or close to it I'd hear that ticking noise. Stock temp settings turn the fan on at 210 right?

At idle, there is no ticking noise, even revving up to 4-5k it will not tick.

I'm looking at youtube videos on broken lifter noises and such to get an idea.

I will try to get a video up sometime this weekend of the noise.

As for mods, the engine is pretty much stock just intake and headers. This engine was recently rebuilt about two years ago if that helps.

TIA everyone, any advice will help.

its not a lifter.. if anything a lifter would tick when the engine is cold and go away when it warms up

wouldnt that set a check engine light?

I know I have a bad oil level sensor, low oil light is almost always on, would that contribute?
