gas gauge problem

I was on E and put $5.00 in gas in the tank and the gauge went up to half a tank this and before that I put $10.00 in gas and it went up to 3/4 a tank. gas is about 1.57 a gallon. Has anyone else have this happen to them?

It's not a problem, it's just how it is.

Our tanks are shaped like a 'V', so there's less at the bottom of the tank, of course. The fuel level sending unit and float will only measure the depth of the fuel remaining, which is why it gets a little hairy closer to E you get.

Full is full, 3/4 is full, 1/2 is 3/4 full, 1/4 is damn near empty, and empty is OUT OF GAS. [img]smile.gif[/img]

this is the first time I have seen these normaly I put $5.00 in gas in all the time and it always goes to 1/4 tank. thats why I ask.

Mine does the exact same thing! lol its hella confusing, that's why I always reset the trip when I get iN!

I have found that when the car is OFF you get a truer reading of how much you have left in the tank.

ditto reset the trip and go by total number of miles, and if your like me go on a buisness trip and on the way back decide to get gass in the NEXT town and run out when you get there... then you know how much exacitly you have (in miles) left to go :D
