I have been having problems with my car's temperature reaching 210 all the time. I recently flushed out my radiator and put in new coolant, and also found out my water pump was leaking so I replaced that also. This did help, because now it at least takes longer for it to start heating up. But the problem is still there. I need to get this fixed because when the car is running that hot it loses a lot of power and gets very sluggish. So what else should I do to get the temperatures down to a constant 160-180 range? I am planning to do a manual fan switch but I don't know if it's going to help that much, because even when I run the AC to get the engine fans to turn on, the temperature still rises to 210 and then I have a hot engine taking away horsepower and the AC taking away even more horsepower. I don't know if the manual fan switch is really going to do that much or if I should look into getting a better radiator. Please help me if you can. Thanks.

I've found that running my heater will suck the heat off my engine, and put it back to where it should be. I'm also having problems overheating..replaced my stat, and also made sure the fan worked...so I don't know what it is. I suspect my computer isn't getting the signal to turn my fan on until the car gets really hot, so maybe I should run a manual fan switch. Not sure though...Try running your heater, to cool the block downNEW RIDE: 2000 Trans Am LS1 5.7L<p>1993 Firebird 3.4 V6 --TRADE IN<br />02 T/A Taillights and centerfillerpanel (Transbird)hehe<br />K&N airfilter<br />Magnaflow Muffler

Running the heater is a temporary fix i would sudgest you have your onboard pc checked out they can run a scan at a certified chevy dealer for like 12 bucks see if that turns up anything.
edit: also make sure your radiator grill isnt bent or cloged up in anyway with leaves and mud or that dog you ran over :D also it could be your thermostat sensor which i think can be detected by the pc scan but im not sure.

Sean37 after you flushed the fluid and refilled it did you check the mixture to make sure it is correct? I would probably tart there and see what you get. I have the same problem in heavy traffic and YES my fan switch helped A LOT.
Camaro9518: sounds like you have a tstat that is bad.
hope this helps guys Remember that sometimes, silence is the best answer.<br />Warren White<br />1996 PoloGreen Coup <a href=\"http://vampyr.settanni.net/\" target=\"_blank\">http://vampyr.settanni.net/</a> <br />\"Jealousy\"<br /> CTFBA member of the month Sept 03

You're not running hot. 210 is normal if you don't have a fan switch or something telling your fans to come on at an earlyer time. Get a fan switch, easiest and cheapest solution to cooling problems. ;)<b>Red 1999 Firebird M5</b><br />Whisper Lid,Borla Catback,K&N,Dual Friction Center Force Clutch,Hurst Shifter w/Lou\'s Short Stick,!FRA,Suncoast Ramair hood,160 Thermo,!maf,Chrome ZO6 Wheels, Painted Calipers, CIA Headers, Taylor Wires, NGK Spark Plugs, 3\" Catco, Jet Chip Stage II, BMR STB, LCA, PHR, SFC, Fan Switch, FTRA<br /><b>Old Dyno Numbers: 183 RWHP, 217 RWTRQ</b><br /><a href=\"http://community.webshots.com/user/redsixer\" target=\"_blank\">http://community.webshots.com/user/redsixer</a>

camaro9518: if you have a hose on one side that is hot and one that is cold the tstat or some kind of blockage would be the only thing I could think of Sorry.
