Ok, assume I start with a brand new 3.8. I add a powerdyne supercharger, SLP cold air intake, and a catback exhaust (maybe flowmaster?). How much do you think all those mods would cost if I purchased at once, and what would my final HP be? Would this be as sick as I think it would?

I think it would be more like 300-320bhp, 255-275rwhp, (with the 9lb pulley) and I'm not sure you could use the SLP intake with the powerdyne kit, which would require some modification to fit on a new 3.8 anyway. As far as cost, maybe 5000 if you bought everything new, but I know there are a couple powerdynes for sale here for around $2000 (or at least there were).Bruce
2000 Silver 3.8L V6 Camaro M5
183.1 rwhp / 220.5 rwtq

Z28 is over rated if you want a real muscle car get a trans am. alot of people think they're the same but the trans am is the better version. a stock trans am is almost as fast as the SS and if you wanted anything faster get a firehawk you'll be givin vipers a run for their money.-3.8L
-K&N Air Filter
-Glass Pack
-1/8: 11.137@61.15
-1/4: 17.125@78.53
Got To Love Mud & Cars Put Together

Um, ok.
Where do you get your information? So the firebird line of the f-body has some magical juice that makes it faster than the camaros? GM just does that.. eh?
I do recall reading the article where the LS1 Camaro Z28 was pitted against the LS1 Transam and the T/A ran through the 1/4 mile about .2 faster than the Z. They had no explanation for it... but it could've been a multitude of things.

several variables can affect performance by .2 of a second. just the fact that firebirds/trans ams are a little more aerodynamically aggressive can make that difference.2001 Arctic White Firebird
T-Tops, 3.42 rear gear stock
Mods:K&N Air Filter,Whisper Air Induction Lid, maf screen removed, raised air box, Kumho Ecsta 712 255-50-ZR16 tires, BMR stb
Mods not installed yet: FTRA, SLP Lsd/Differential cover
Near Future Mods: HPP3, GMMG 3\" Exhaust , 1LE Swaybars, Transgo Shift Kit, MSD-DIS-4 w/ Accel Coil-Packs, Turquoise Blue Neon Underbody Kit, BMR Adj. funny thing is that a few years back everyone claimed the z28 went faster than the t/a, just depends on the driver personally I think with a good driver both t/a and z28 r high to mid 12's cars

I think that Formulas are the best bang for the buck, you may not have the looks of the T/A but the speed is there. My friends 98 formula A4 with an exhaust cutout and whisper lid raced a 2001 SS M6 that was heavily modded and they were dead even up to 120MPH....here's a cool site too: http://popularmechanics.com/automoti...rs/print.phtml1999 Black Trans Am A4

-Flowmaster with Flowtech Cutout
-SLP Lid
-SLP MAF
-Ported Heads, hardened pushrods
-Diable Sport Programming
-18\' ZO6 Polished rims
