Re: Pads & Rotors & Smoke

In my Haynes manual (p. 9-21) it states that you turn the parking brake adjuster screw outward(?) until the shoe just barely drags on the disc. Then remove the disc and turn the screw a little more until it does not drag at all. the proper clearance is .026 inches.

They make it sound like you can get at the adjuster screw with the rotors installed. Hope this helps at least somewhat.

This is something I'll be looking into soon.... my brakes are making noises. Car has 85K and the brakes are stock on all wheels. I've never seen a disc-brake parking brake before so this should be interesting.

Haynes is obviously better than Chiltons. I figgured it out last night and got it all working . That screw can be accessed with the rotor off. I do not think there is a practical way to get at it with the rotor on.
