  • weird clicking sound in engine

    whenever i accelerate. . .wheter its after a complete stop or just gaining speed to make a pass my engine clicks. what could this be????

    if you rev it up, does it click faster?

    Assuming it does, it is mostlikely a cloged lifter.. but i have seen posts where the fuel injector is clicking.

      Yea, I got that problem, always comes and goes.

        can you better explain the click? it its like a tapping sound all the time? how many miles on the car? what year car? more information goes along way to us helping you. [img]smile.gif[/img]

            how many miles you have on this 85 camaro. you might want to try thinner oil. But it sounds like a valve lifter.

              Sounds to valve/lifter tick to me. Means your valves need adjusted - OR - I've seen where you can hear it because of pinholes in the exhaust or muffler [img]smile.gif[/img]

                check the rocker arms. im sure over the years of beatings the motor has taken they probably need to be readjusted. if thats not it probably like beezy said, its an old car they are prone to having all kinds of ticks.

                    its an 85 like 3.4 to go said. its got a little over 50,000 miles.

                      how do i adjust the valves & when i inspect the rocker arms, what do i look for???
