Well, I replaced my belt with a Gatorback about a week ago, and since then it's been making a whining noise. I checked it today and it's still in perfect condition. I'm kind of clueless as to why it's making that noise. And it's not like a quiet noise either. I could here it while driving behind it in my rx-7 today

I have a gatorback and it does the same thing, kind of sounds like a small supercharger, its caused cuz the ribs in the belt have the slots in it.-Chris
2001 Pewter Camaro M5
Current Mods: NOS Dry Kit and a few others
N/A: 15.5@88.9MPH
N2O: ???
http://www.cardomain.com/id/jtusa69888

That's what I thought too. My wife thinks it sounds cool and doesn't mind it, as long as the car is fine. Thanks for putting my mind at ease2000 silver A4 Camaro
Whisper lid; Free Ram Air; BMR stb; MSD super conductor wires; Gatorback belt?
1986 RX-7 (daily driver)

Yea Hawgs is correct, the noise will settle down but will never completly go away, but its not that bad of a noise. I don't consider it a mod. I have heard a lot of good things about it though, esp. from the gtp people, saying that it doesn't ever slip. I put it in my list of mods to be funny2000 silver A4 Camaro
Whisper lid; Free Ram Air; BMR stb; MSD super conductor wires; Gatorback belt?
1986 RX-7 (daily driver)

Its not ment to keep it cooler, it might do that but, its made that way so it can't break on you. Its not like a grooved belt where if it crack its gonna snap. The gatorback is designed so if it crack it cant go straight across the belt. Just look at it and you will know what I'm talking about.2005 Cavalier LS Sport M5
http://members.cardomain.com/firefighter8615

Not a mod, just upkeep. Also consider Dayco's PolyCog line. The purpose on most of these belts is to make them more flexible in a way. It all reduces friction and heat on the belt/pulley surface, and that makes the belts last MUCH longer.
Gatorbacks are mainly wanted by supercharger guys, as they do not slip near as easily as most belts!www.fullthrottlev6.com THE SOURCE!
