  • won't pass inspection

Hey has anyone had this problem. i went to get my 2000 camaro inspected today and it wouldn't pass because the evap, catalyst and o2 heater sensor were not ready. so he told to drive it around for a while and i did and brought it back and still wouldn't pass. But i haven't done anything with the pcm lately or had the battery off either. the last thing i did was swap out my injectors for 36 lb/hr ons but i tuned it for them and everything. has anyone had this problem or have any ideas? thanks!

You have no SES on though? Not clearing any codes? The required ready sensors vary by state afaik, you may want to see whats required in your state. It's always nice to know someone that sells stickers of course...

                  Re: won't pass inspection

so did it work? Try checking your OBD codes in hp tuners...you may have your O2 sensor codes shut off...IRC if you shut them off, then they won't do the check for them, and won't be ready...

I think your runing rich or are still running rich and it burnt up the O2 sensors, when they tuned for the 36LB injectors did they use a wideband and take it out to tune it? Do you have a wideband in your car? What time of year did they tune it in, I have to flash my car with a summer tune and a winter tune since the temp change will change your A/F ratio. I would go back and at least get a wideband put in your car so you know how it is running. Because without changing for weather change you could have some KR going on also. Who is the tuner a shop or person?

ok well i checked my codes with hptuners and i didnt see any o2 senmsors shut off or codes or anything and for the injectors i think its right. i did it my self an i the innovate
lc-1 wideband in the car so ill go check it and see if its running rich. i did a run before and after the injectors to make sure the ratio was the same and its been steady. i think its like 14. something does that sound right? i didn't do them any more then a month ago k well ill go check it right now. thanks again everyone

ok i took it for a ride and watched the wideband. on start up it runs a little rich for .
about 20-30 sec it runs at 16-17. then at normal driving its stays pretty steady at like 14.8. the only time it will get rich is if u hit it and then let of the gas quickly then it gets rich fast but only 1-3 sec then its back to 14.8. could that be the problem? thanks again everyone

                          16-17 is lean not rich.

What they look for when they scan your car for the emissions test is the OBDII readiness states. Do a search on the internet there are ways to force the PCM to complete them. You can see if they are completed on the same tab in HPtuners as you would look to see any DTC's. Clearing fuel trims or flashing the PCM will reset these to incomplete, just as if you unhooked the battery.

ok i've searched everywhere on how to force the sensors to ready up, all i can find is people telling me you cant force them, if anyones knows of a way it would be greatly appreciated. also i got a code a p0174 saying , system too lean (bank 2) so i cleared it and did the reset drive cycle 3 times and i got the o2 the egr and the o2 sensor heater to come back ready. then i was doing the cycle again and the code came back it had been around 80 miles since i cleared it the first time. so i cleared it once more and drove the cylce a bunch of times like 35 miles and got the egr and the o2 ready i think i can the o2 heater again if i just wait for it to cool down and do thew whole idle with a/c and defroster on, it worked for me the second time i did it after i cleared it. i tried it the first time when i had like 2000 miles since my last clear and it didnt work. thanks again everyone for all your help!
