I just got a 97 camaro rs 3.8. My gas pedal feels a little too low and maybe also because it has aftermarket pedals, they're rubbing and I can't quite get to wot and the throttle response is a little slow.
I've noticed there's a black plastic holder mounted on the motor. Is that how you adjust the slack? How do you unclip the cable and how does the adjustment work, because I didn't see any nuts on the sides.
There is no adjustment for our ThrottleBody Cables. They are set from the factory with those cheezy plastic retainers and have no adjusting screws.
You CAN however pick the slack up a little bit, but it takes some brainstorming. If you can get the end of the cable off (where it hooks on to the TB) and find a way to loosen the crimped cicular thingy (no other way to describe it), slide it up a little and re-crimp it. If that isn't gonna work, cut it off as close as you can to the crimped thingy, buy a new one and squeeze it on with a large pair of pliers. Search around at any Lowes, Home Depot, or Hardware Store for something that will take it's place.
Well that sucks. I searched all over the net and I came up with a post saying that there's a black clip and you take that off and you can adjust the slack. I think that was for a z28 though. I came across mustang boards, and it seems it's a real common problem for them and their solution was to use tiestraps on the pedal and it would raise it and make the cable tighter, any idea if that would work on our cars?
Are you sure that plastic thing just holds the cable in place?

I actually used a lead fishing split shot and crimped it on my old Trans Am Cable. It worked great! Ghetto...yes...but still served it's purpose until the cable was replaced.

Positive. There is no adjusting them what-so-ever...unless I've missed something. Although I am almost 100% sure that they cannot be readjusted with our current setup(s).
Not much going on, replaced my Kenwood double din stereo with a Pioneer double din, the Kenwood had problems. Then replaced my power inverter for my reverse...
