I am working on a 97 Camaro V6. I have narrowed down the problem. The car runs really really cruddy at times, like to the point of where it wont even go. So I replaced the 02 sensors, plugs, wires, catalytic converter, maf sensor, and 1 of the 3 coils. It appears the other 2 coils have been replaced. Two of the coils are wells brand, and the other one is some off brand. when the car is running like crap, if I take a wrench and tap the side of the coils, it starts running fine again. I was trying to find some suggestions on what to replace. Should I replace the other two coils or the ignition control module that the coils sit on or what. I dont want to waste any more money. Thanks for your help!

Definately take off the coils and have a look at the connections. One of my posts was corroded and caused some issues and as you know on the bottom of the coil is a fairly small connector piece that may be damaged or such. Try pulling that stuff apart and checking it and tightening it down. Just my advice for an easy check. Hope it works out easy for ya.

      sometimes you can clean connections.

check the harnes that bolts to the ingition plate. make sure it is screwed on tight and that the wires are not loose. Also look at those to connectors to see if they are dirty or corroded.

i think you have found where the problem is localized though.
