  • is it slick...or what?

Hey Friends...how y'all are? I just put a slick 50 treatment in my wife's car and have always heard good stuff about it. I'm wondering if it would be a good idea for my bird as well. What do you think of slick 50....does it really work?

    Blessings.....

NOOOOOO, don't fall for the marketing scam. I repeat, do not put that in your car. That is a waste of your hard earned money. Be a good steward and use your money for something of value. After doing some research I found out that none of those products do what they claim to do. In, fact they will do more harm than good in a used engine.

I think I read a couple of years ago about a class action suit against the makers of slick 50. I kind of recall that peoples engines were being damaged, somthing about slick 50 messing up the oil pump, I use to keep up with this stuff, but I had to delete some files in my brain to make room for the Word! There is only so much memory space available, and the Word takes priority. 2 Timothy 2-15. Blessings to you

Bob has a whole writeup of lucas. He put it in some gears he setup, and used regular oil in another test, and the lucas foamed up and stuff, and that would MESS up your engine.

DO NOT ADD ANYTHING TO YOUR OIL

I wouldnt ever put any of that crap in your engine. Todays oil is great compaired to what it once was. 25% of a qt. of oil is additives anyway. No need to add more to it. Todays oil has a presise amount of oxidation inhibitors, detergents, defoamers, corrosion inhibitors, viscosity improovers, etc. If you start to throw random chemicals in there it could throw off that balance.

The whole reason I put the Slick in is because at 153 thousand miles, the old minivan is starting to have some lifter noise upon fireup in the mornings. After about 5 minutes she quietens down and sounds great. I really thought that If I had something in there that would kind of coat the upper engine, I would be able to alleviate some of that cold engine noise. Any ideas here?

I wish there was something, but the fact is, nothing can replace worn metal. What is going on with your car is that when it is cold, everything is loose becasuse of wear. Once the metal heats up it expands, and closes up the clearance gaps. Eventually, the gaps get to big, and you have no more power, and that is when it is time to rebuild or replace. After 30 years of rebuilding motors, I thank the Lord that HE has blessed me with the finacial ability to by new vechiles, and I no longer have to spend my weekends under the hood, thus freeing me up to preach the gospel! By the way pastor Larry, let me introduce myself properly to you, my name is Jim, and it is a pleasure to correspond with you and all the others on this site. The sharing of our technical abilities is fun, and very helpful.

Friends, please pray for my son Bryan, he has a 4.5cm tumor at the base of his brain. He will be having a operation tomorrow. He lead me to this site, he has a 97 firebird that he just loves, and we enjoy talking car stuff together. Thanks to all for your prayers.
