  • Alternator Questions

Is the 3.4L alternator a 1 wire or 2 wire? It has 1 in the plug but another wire coming out of the back.

How much different are the 3.4s from the 5.7's?

Are there any 3.4 alternators that have more than 105 amps out there (none on ebay)?

    Thanks,

Yeah, I have been there, well advance, but they all have the same stuff. They all sell alt.s that are 105 amps at around $140-180. I figure that I might as well get a bigger amperage if I am going to put in speakers and modify the ignition system.

Thanks about the 1 wire part.

      Are the 3.8 alts different?

Mounting brackets aren't too big of a deal, I am just concerned about wiring.

Well its a 2 wire i guess since it has some sort of a plug you just un plug then there is the actual wire from the alt to the battery.

        I got a 180 amp alt from www.4alterstart.com for my 3.4

Do you guys that have the 180A alts know how long they last?

I talked to the guy at alterstart last night and he said that it only has a 2 year warranty.

Ive had mine for about 10 months now and no problem.

Just tell him your willing to pay the 20 bucks more or what ever it is for the lifetime warantee.

Regular price with one yr warantee is like $180 and with lifetime is like $199.99

Mine making that sound right now (I think)? My brother says that it is probably the bearings in the alt or in the belt tensioner.
